Open Thread: Packers at Dallas

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys
Thursday, November 29th, 2007
7:15 p.m. CST, NFL Network
This is an open thread for the game.

Inactives from PackersNews.com.

Cornerback Charles Woodson and defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila both were declared inactive.

Woodson (big toe) and KGB (ankle) both were injured in last Thursday's win at Detroit.

Jarrett Bush will replace Woodson as the starting left cornerback.

Also inactive were: receiver Shaun Bodiford, safety Aaron Rouse, safety Marviel Underwood, guard Allen Barbre, tight end Bubba Franks and defensive tackle Johnny Jolly.

Nick Collins is active and will start at free safety.

I'm really surprised Woodson and KGB are going to miss this game, and losing both (or either) is a big loss.

Where are the Packer fans?
You guys are getting ripped off in this game.

First, that non-call on pass interference was bogus. That would be called on most other teams in the league. Was it Reeves on coverage? He was bumping the receiver, never looked back, leaned on him as the ball arrived.

Then on that reception going the other way, Harris clearly took the ball away. "Forward progress stopped" is an extremely lame explanation for a blown call.

That's some home-field advantage the Cowboys have so far.

agreed
loss of Woodson and KGB hurts a lot too.

There's a lot for the Packers to overcome, but plenty of football to play yet...

not to mention
the delay of game penalty.

field goals game so far.

Packers will need to get a running game going at some point.

poor
choice by Favre to throw that ball.

Cowboys are getting a darned good pass rush... no idea why he threw that.

Agreed .. very poor decision
He had to throw it somewhere or take the sack. There's a lot of speed on that Dallas D line. He should have know it was coming and found somewhere along the sideline to dump it.

and the
Cowboys make them pay.

That was easy. Green Bay better get something going on this next drive - so far they look a little lost.

Good call on the onside kick
I wonder how long it will take for other teams to start guarding against that now that Philly and Green Bay have both tried it, and almost both successfully.

Dallas just scored again on a couple deep passes, first to Owens, then to Fasano. Doesn't look like Green Bay's d-backs are up to the challenge right now. (Of course, Romo has made some great throws, too.)

Favre is not having a good night throwing
He's thrown up a few fly balls and some wobbly ducks. Even some of the complete passes don't look that well thrown -- despite what Collinsworth says.

Not sure why Green Bay isn't running more ..
.. and it's going to cost them. More pressure, another interception, and Favre may be hurt.

stinking
too much pass rush by the Cowboys, bad Brett came to play right now.

And now the pass interference
Getting ugly quick. Personally, I never liked the PI rule. This one is for 40 yards. The rule is the rule, but that's just weak.

if the cowboys
win this challenge, it'll turn this game into a joke.

I absolutely hate the NFL rules about catches and the bullshit that goes with it. If the guy can't hold onto the ball while he's rolling on the ground, it's not a catch.

That was a pretty lame challenge
I didn't think there was much chance of success on that one.

Ultimately didn't matter. Cowboys are hard to stop from inside the 10.

stopping
the Cowboys appears to be impossible for the Packers tonight.

If they don't get a stop on this drive, this game could get out of hand.

Wow. What was Harris thinking?
He just gave up on coverage on a jump ball. That's just making it easy on Dallas.

what
a horrible screen.

man.... running screens is hard, but the linemen have to be looking around for whom to block.

free play, though. a gift from the Cowboys.

couple cowboys injured on defense. linebacker and cover corner.

packers need to score here. if they do, and Favre is marginal, migh as well let Rodgers play the rest.

all right
nice job by Rodgers!

I can imagine that Favre's elbow is going to stiffen up pretty good at half.

First TD pass by Rodgers?

Fantastic play by Jennings after catch for TD
That was a nifty move after the catch. Good drive by Rodgers. I'd leave Favre on the sideline for now.

Nope. Should have been a 5-yarder
I don't think that would be assessed on the kick, so it would have been declined. But still, it should have been called. People often ask why Patriots fans complain about bad calls even when New England wins. It's because they're bad (or missed) calls. Pretty simple.

I'm done for the night here
I've been sick and I have to get up early. I know most of the cheeseheads are probably at the game, but you guys need to get some more game-time chatter here!

C'mon! You're the GREEN BAY PACKERS!

coming back!

Hey....  within three!

Rodgers doing a good job. Did Dallas get too conservative?

or more likely it's because Romo is way off on his throws.

screwed twice
on the pass interference call that gave Dallas a touchdown, then on the 3rd down call where Grant should have been given the first down.

Typical stuff when playing at Dallas. NBA referees at play.

another loss in Dallas. Rodgers played well enough, and the refs give Dallas the game.

Typical.

Cowboys would have kicked your ass
regardless of the calls. Take the loss like a man, and admit the Boys are the best team in the NFC.

Can't wait until the NFC Championship where we'll kick your ass again.

Al Harris Fumble Recovery
It was obvious to me and everyone in my living room that Harris got screwed out of a turnover on the Cowboys first drive. I figured the Zebs would be a big deal, I just can't wrap my mind around the inefficiency of the officials in the game.
