Open Thread: Green Bay at Chicago

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
Sunday, December 23rd, 2007
Noon CST, FOX
This is an open thread for the game.

The current weather is 17 degrees with light snow and wind which makes it feel like -1. Not a blizzard but with the wind there shouldn't be a lot of passing either.

Inactives from NFL.com.

Chicago Bears
Inactives: QB Rex Grossman (3rd QB), CB Nathan Vasher, SAF Josh Gattis, LB Lance Briggs, G Josh Beekman, WR Mike Haas, DE Mark Anderson, NT Darwin Walker.

Fantasy take: QB Kyle Orton will start for the second consecutive week. The Bears defense will be without Briggs and Vasher, so this unit will be more vulnerable against Green Bay.

Four starters on defense are out; Briggs, Vasher, Walker, and Anderson.
Green Bay Packers
Inactives: QB Aaron Rodgers (3rd QB), WR Shaun Bodiford, CB Jarrett Bush, FB Korey Hall, G Allen Barbre, DT Ryan Pickett, TE Ryan Krause, DT Conrad Boston.

Fantasy take: TE Bubba Franks is active, but TE Donald Lee will continue to start. The Packers' defensive backfield is at close to full strength.

Starting tackle Pickett and nickel CB Bush are out, but since Chicago's offense is unlikely to do much with Orton at QB it shouldn't have a huge impact.

Its a close one
Everyone has ice blocks on their hands. I cannot believe Grant broke another long one. That was just what we needed.

ridiculous
how can they not see the blatant holding and hands to the face that the bears O line is getting away with? the officiating this year has been about as bad as it gets

wow
I once said Bigby couldn't be judged on his coverage yet... I was blind. He is as bad as it gets. Once again, an obvious push off for the touchdown gets no flags on the 2 pt conversion. I think this one may be over.

I must be dreaming
Cause the Packers can't be blowing another game against the Bears.

Why is Favre throwing so much all of a sudden
He hasn't had any success today, don't throw it three times in a row.

Wow
Another blocked punt.  This is absolutely ridiculous.

Probably
But this offense can put up a lot of points very fast if they stop sucking anytime soon.

This makes me glad I can't see the game on TV
I'm sure its slightly less painful just following it online.

All I Can Say Is...Wow
The Packers have a complete lack of focus in this game. There is no excuse for the way they have executed their special teams today. This is an embarrassing game and a good wake up call before the playoffs start that this team cannot sleepwalk through a game and expect to win.

Yeah
I hope it has that effect too.  And it should.  We'll next week against the Lions.

Cold weather affecting us?
Is it a good thing to look forward to the warm comfort of texas? haha! While this loss is painful because its the Bears, and Favre played badly, I'm not that concerned about it if we can come back and play well against the Lions. How about all those blocked punts? Talk about Christmas gifts.

The whole team
Had the spirit of giving today.  Warms my heart.

Embarassing
Mike McCarthy once again sticks to a game plan that isn't working. Hey Jon Ryan: Catch the ball WITH YOUR HANDS and kick the ball WITH YOUR FOOT. We and the wind giftwrapped a game for the Bears. I came home last night ready to rag on my friends and all I got is Tilema scoring 33 over NIU in a meaningless, non-conference college basketball game. The Packers were simply embarassing. If this is truly our year, I guess we all better hope Santa drops off some big bundles of miracles for us all, including the 53 who decided not to show up today. I'm going to run my Boston Marathon training and see what this wind is all about since I am in the Chicagoland area. I just wont be sporting my Packers dri-fit is all.

Still wondering
How did we spank the Lions and stuff the Vikings and get swept by pathetic Chicago? They must have spies...
