Barnett Files Grievance

He clearly wasn't happy when the Ref took him down from behind, playing favorites to the Bears O-line. See the video on YouTube
here

He has filed a grievance against the Ref through his Agent, Chuck Price. Here is the story.
I don't know how much of a distraction this will be, as it was towards the end of an already upsetting loss to the Bears.
Its tough to defend yourself against a cheap shot by a dirty lineman, but how do you defense against an Referee coming at you from behind?

Thank you so much for posting that video.  It is just too funny.  I can't believe you guys would even speak of something so embarassing.  He actually had his agent give a press release on this asking for an appology?  He basically got beat up by an old fat guy.  This is something that if it happened to me I would never speak of it again.  LOL

Old Dude
Doesn't look like he'll file a grievance after all. When I saw that play I was just glad Barnett didn't deck him and draw a suspension. Maybe the ref was watching that ad with the ref sacking the QB and got confused. I agree with sabp, I'm surprised Barnett isn't leaving it alone and instead he keeps bringing it up.

Its the principal
(Nicks agent)Price says Barnett gets fined all the time for actions that aren't as serious, such as wearing the wrong color wristband or committing a routine face mask penalty during a game.

"This guy comes with a WWF choke hold, and just gets let go," Price said. ---

He's right. The officials feel like they can do anything, and the NFL allows this mentality. You know the NFL is the only pro sports league without a FT officiating crew?

I realize its funny to joke about, since Barnett is a big strong guy, and Jim looks like, well, what he is, a fat, pasty senior citizen, but lets say this guy causes Nick an eye injury, or he bends his leg backwards and tears a tendon.. I mean, WTF was this guy thinking??

Umpire fined a game check
Just read on PFT.com that the Umpire who grabbed Barnett is going to get fined $8,150, a game check. I guess the ump has been involved in physical altercations before. I guess this solves it, as they said they weren't going to pursue a grievance now.

Ed Hoculi
A while back in Sports Illustrated they had a first person thing on Ed Hoculi and he went through what he did in one of his daily workouts.  Lets just say the players might be pretty big, but the umpires arent exactly small guys either...

Another thing...I highly doubt Barnett was prepared to be put in a chokehold from one of the players, much less an umpire who should know better...hes only the field to regulate/control the game...not to try to cause fights and stuff.

Barnett also said that the umpire was pretty much choking him and he cuoldnt really do much...I doubt any of us here are going to get out of a choke hold by one of the NFL Referees.
