The Free Agents are Coming

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli lists the top 30 unrestricted free agents.  There had been rumors of DE Adalius Thomas, but Pasquarelli doesn't list the Packers as a possible landing spot.  It is interesting that Pasquarelli said RB Ahman Green's only landing spot is Green Bay.  GM Ted Thompson convinced Bob McGinn that the Packers will sit out the first several days.  I don't believe it.   Thompson is targeting one or more free agents, but isn't letting anything get reported from him. We will have to wait and see who he really goes after.

Who will pack bring in?
First, let me say that it is about time that there was a Packers blog here at SB Nation.  Thanks Brandon for doing this and I'm really looking forward to reading your stuff.

Second, I really don't think Thompson is going to be a big player in free agency.  I'd love to see GB add someone like Daniel Graham, but I doubt that will happen and McGinn said GB hasn't contated his agent.  I do think there are some second tier free agent wide recievers who might be interesting additions for the Packers.  Let's admit it, GB needs depth at WR.  Someone like DJ Hackett from Seattle could be a good, cheap, and relatively young player who could be a good pickup as a 3rd wide receiver.

I also think GB will add some depth at CB.  The problem here is that there just aren't that many good defensive backs who are free agents this year.

WR and CB
It wouldn't be surprising to see them bring in a veteran WR, but after CB Nate Clements there isn't a lot to get excited about at CB.  However Tom Silverstein reported on the exciting CB Frank Walker rumor.  If you are wondering if I had never heard of Frank Walker until today, well I hadn't.
