RB?

A couple questions:

Who do you guys THINK will start for the Packers in '07?

Vs.

Choosing between Morency and Herron, would do you guys WANT to be starting for the Packers in '07?

I personally think Morency showed some promise in limited reps last year.  He's really quick, but also undersized.  Fumbling is 'correctable,' so I'm not too worried about that.  What do you guys think?

Wide Open
Even if the Packers draft Marshawn Lynch in the 1st round, I still think it is a wide open competition and every back on the roster will be given a chance during training camp to win the starting job.

I've been down on Morency in my last few posts because overall Herron played better in 2006. However neither played a whole lot so the 2006 sample size is too small to say for certain that Herron is the better back.

If the season opened today, then I think Morency would be named the starter with Herron as the 3rd back. I don't want a running back by committee, but there should be one back with about 300 carries and another with about 100 carries ideally.

There won't be a "the guy" at RB
Morrency will get carries, and I'm not concerned about his size.  He probably won't be an every-down back, but a Maurice Jones-Drew type of guy - he'll get a third of the carries, maybe more if he's hot in any given game, should grab a few dozen passes over the course of the season, maybe even line up in the slot occasionally.  Herron and Arliss Beach (who the Packers thought highly enough to pay all year on injured reserve to keep him signed) will battle it out for the 3rd back role, unless one has a breakout camp and emerges as a starting-caliber talent, and whoever the Packers end up drafting (in the first few rounds???) will have a significant role.  Just my two cents...
