Tony Mandarich and Steroids
I've been blogging about the Packers since 2003 and this is the first time I've ever written about Tony Mandarich. In probably the least surprising revelation in Packers' history, he now admits to steriod use in college. I hope this is the last time he mentioned on this blog.
Actually check out the horrow show of Packer draft choices from 1989 to 1991 (pre-Ron Wolf). LeRoy Butler is one of the greatest Packers of all time. Tony Bennett had a couple good seasons for leaving in free agency. Bobby Houston was a solid starting linebacker for a few season, with the NY Jets. Everyone else was a backup or a bust. The Packers' front office screwed up drafting steriod users, but also made mistakes up and down the roster during that time.

haha , what a list!
Quite a rogeus gallery there…what a list! Brings back memories…the one good memory I have of the running back Darrell Thompson was some long kick off return he had for a touchdown. He seemed to have the tools but I guess he faded into oblivion.
I remember Bennett being very fast and showing good stuff as well. The cornerback from Ohio St Vinnie clark, don’t remember practically at all.
Aside from Leroy Butler, I think the drafting of Dan Majkowski in 1990 was probably the best pick huh? lol I still have a soft spot for those years though…

Mandrich
Remember that Mandrich was picked after Troy Aikman and before both Barry and Dionne Sanders and Dallas had been mulling over taking Mandrich.
Mandrich’s bust was the last straw for the Packers, They finally cleaned house and brought in some competence so it may have been that draft pick was one of the best ever for the team.

wolf
Wolf was never a genius in the draft either. Arguably the three best players on the 96 team were butler, who was already here and white and favre through trades.
