Open Thread: Indianapolis at Green Bay

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers, Oct 19, 2008 3:15 PM CDT

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers
Sunday, October 19th, 2008
3:15 CST, CBS
This is an open thread for the game.

Inactives from NFL.com:

Colts inactives: S Bob Sanders, CB Kelvin Hayden, RB Joseph Addai, TE Gijon Robinson, LB Buster Davis, G Daniel Federkeil, WR Roy Hall, DE Curtis Johnson.

Analysis: RB Dominic Rhodes will start in the absence of Addai, who is inactive. Rhodes is a nice No. 2 fantasy runner or flex starter against the Packers.

Packers inactives: QB Brian Brohm (3rd), S Atari Bigby, CB Al Harris, DE Jason Hunter, T Breno Giacomini, G Allen Barbre, WR James Jones, DT Mike Montgomery.

Analysis: QB Aaron Rodgers is active and will start, as expected. WR Jordy Nelson will see more work with Jones out, but he has little fantasy value. CB Charles Woodson is active.

No surprises. Bigby, Harris, and Montgomery would start if healthy, but they haven't been expecting them to play all week. The Colts will be without two of their stars; Sanders and Addai.

Fumble!

Grant!!! Good job by Hall. Nice drive going, thanks to the penalties.

Colledge

He missed. Great play by the Colts defender (Jennings) to knock the ball away from Martin. Rodgers even made a great pass, throwing to Martin’s shoulder away from the defender, but he still made the play. 3-0.

I like that opening drive...

playing some smashmouth football…setting up the play action pass for later….Greg Jennings HAS to be salivating looking at that secondary

Rekick???

Wow. What luck on a botched onside kick.

Run defense

The Packers run defense can’t stop anyone from running. Kampman watched Rhodes run by him on one play. Missed tackles. Awful.

Packers need to score a lot

Probably need 27 to 30 points.

That is some nasty wind. I’m surprised the Packers can throw at all in this direction.

Lets go Pack!

Good runs by Grant. Helpful penalties by Indy. Jennings forcing penalties. Nice plays by Rodgers keeping the drive alive, and great pass protection.

The run blocking has been great today. It helps to play against a lousy run defense, but they’ve been playing better the last couple weeks since Clifton, Wells, and Hall have all been back and healthy.

Grant is the key

If we can continue to pound it out, and string together long drives while taking time off the clock, we’ll be in good shape.

I think this first defensive possession is pretty important as well. A stop would go a long way.

Even better against the Colts

These were two very similar teams coming into this game (good pass offense and defense, bad run defense) except the Colts can run the ball. And the Packers just crushed them. Hopefully it’s a big step forward going into the bye.

chillar

is emerging as the Packers anti-TE weapon…Clark picks up no more than 4,5 yards, and that’s when he catches it.

It will be interesting to see how PT gets divided up between Pops and Chillar, this year and next
