Swapping White for Lansanah
I'm a little surprised to see LB Tracy White go, but he was released and they signed LB Danny Lansanah from the practice squad. White was the leading tackler on special teams the previous two seasons, but the special teams haven't been playing well the last couple weeks. If White isn't contributing there, then he doesn't belong on the roster because he's looked bad when playing on defense. Lansanah showed some promise during the preseason. Maybe he's a better all around player. Apparently GM Ted Thompson thought so.

I read
that the Dolphins were trying to sign him off our practice squad. As far as I’m concerned, if Bill Parcells was trying to get him, I have no problem letting go of Tracy White to keep him.

Dolphins also grabbed Joey Haynos off the practice squad...
I think this was also a reaction to losing Joey Haynos off the practice squad to the Dolphins a couple weeks ago, which was a disappointment to the Packer staff. I don’t think TT wanted to lose two good future players to Bill Parcells.
BTW, according to press reports, the Dolphins made a good offer to Lansanah, and tried to discourage him from even telling the Packers. They just wanted him to fly to Florida the next morning, and even had a plane ticket for an early morning flight. That has to be extremely tempting for a young player.
To his credit, he informed the Packers. They gave him a good counter-offer, and made a roster spot for him.
