Blogger Q&A with a Panthers Blogger
I big Hello! to Packers fans here at Acme Packing Company. Jaxon here from Cat Scratch Reader to answer any questions you may have about the Panthers leading up to our show down on the tundra this Sunday. So far it seems the NFC South has not been kind to the Packers (0-3 I believe). Are you ready to concede the South as the best division in the NFC?The Packers have a tough hill to climb to get back in the division mix but are certainly still in it.
I'll be putting up a similar post for questions from my readers for your blogger (or anyone else who considers themselves a Packer guru) so please check that out. Both teams are coming off tough losses and have plenty of questions on both sides of the ball.
Go Panthers!

The Running Man
I’m focused on both sides of the running game.
The Packers can’t stop the run. They couldn’t even stop RB Earnest Graham. Are the Packers going to be run over by Williams, Stewart, or a combination of both? I thought Stewart had been banged up recently.
Can Carolina stop the run? RB Ryan Grant wasn’t great (not awful either) on Monday night at New Orleans. But he looked great in his previous three games. It looked like RB Michael Turner kicked some ass last week.

The Panthers will try to run it a lot
if that is your weakness. Williams is the starter and will get 2/3 the carries. He’s a quicker with his moves and cuts better than Stewart. Stewart runs with more power but has speed too, but tends to try and run over people more than Williams.
The Panther run defense was awesome the firth 5 games, holding an impressive list of RB’s to less than 100 yards. They’ve slipped some since allowing both Warrick Dunn and Kevin smith to gain over 100 yards. We will be looking for a return to the tough run defense from the beginning of the season.

I concede nothing
even though every single NFC South team is now above .500
Where are the gratuitous Steve Smith highlights? Remember in seasons past, when he would run around a guy, jump over another, get tackled without hitting the ground, then scampering off to the end zone while everyone tried to figure out just what happened?
My main point in that diatribe: How is Steve Smith doing this year?

Smith has been good
He had a nice game against the Falcons who couldn’t cover the guy on any route. The three games prior to that he was pretty quite. Nothing wrong with him, its just some defenses do have the scheme and personnel to limit him. He is always a threat and you better not single cover him too much or he will beat you deep. If your referring to the off-the-field stuff he’s been very well behaved since the preseason. If the Panthers are going to beat the Pack this weekend they are going to have to be able to throw the ball so smith better have a big day.

Is Damione Lewis really a pro bowl candidate?
I know about Chris Harris, I know about Jon Beason, I obviously know about Peppers and Lucas, but this defense has more good players than the national media is letting on. Who else is god on the Panthers defense that we should watch out for?
By the way, if the Packers don’t make the playoffs, I’ll be routing for you guys to go all the way. Too likable a team, and too likable a state.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Good to hear it, thanks, we need all the help we can get
I wouldn’t call Lewis a PB candidate at this point. He’s done pretty well with his pass rush. Not so well in the run stopping as most teams elect to run over the left side right at Lewis & Peppers.
Our best CB is Chris Gamble who is having a career year with passes defensed. I think our other LB’s are good, Na’il Diggs and Thomas Davis. Second year DE Charles Johnson is coming on too.

Hey Na'il Diggs is still playing
I wasn’t quite sure. I thought it was a good move when the Packers released him after the 2005 season. He had been battling knee injuries and he didn’t seem the same. I thought Carolina was wasting their time with him. I’m glad to see he’s managed to keep playing.
