Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears, Dec 22, 2008 7:30 PM CST

GREEN BAY PACKERS (5-9) GAME # 15 CHICAGO BEARS (8-6)
VS.
Date: December 22, 2008 Location: Chicago, IL
Time: 7:30 p.m. CST
Stadium: Soldier Field
TV: ESPN Favorite: Bears by 4
Weather:
Damn Cold
Injury Report:
Friday Injury Report
SBN Coverage: Windy City Gridiron My Prediction:
I've got no idea

his game is all about the weather and the bitter cold. Anything could happen.

Inactives from NFL.com:

Packers: QB Brian Brohm (3rd), RB Brandon Jackson, FB Korey Hall, LB Danny Lansanah, T Kevin McCaskill, T Breno Giacomini, DT Anthony Torbio, DT Justin Harrell.

Analysis: RB DeShawn Wynn will see carries behind RB Ryan Grant with Jackson out. CBs Charles Woodson and Al Harris are active and will start, as expected.

Bears: QB Caleb Hanie (3rd), WR Devin Aromashodu, FB Jason McKie, LB Gilbert Gardner, G Terrence Metcalf, DT Matt Toeaina, WR Brandon Rideau, DE Ervin Baldwin.

Analysis: RB Matt Forte is active and will start, as expected. He’s safe to use in fantasy leagues. WR Marty Booker is also active.

Chicago seems to be at full strength. The Packers will miss Jackson due to his wrist injury (not a big deal because Mike McCarthy never lets him carry the ball unless it's a blowout). I doubt Wynn is given much of a chance either. Hall is missing his 2nd straight game, but it doesn't seem like the offense misses him much when he's out. FB John Kuhn should be fine as his replacement.

Matt Forte

Forgot to mention; Forte’s toe injury should be hurting bad in the bitter cold. So he’s going to be in a lot of pain while rushing for 100 yards and a TD tonight. Or maybe it will make a difference and he’ll have a bad game. Any thoughts?

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:26 PM CST reply actions

Hey there Brandon...

we held him to around 60 yards right in the first meeting? I look for a repeat performance! But in all seriousness, I am guessing he’s getting that toe all shot up and wrapped up to the point of being numb.

What I am worried about is the Pack might just be totally dispirited after so many tough losses…it’s gotta weigh on them psychologically

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:33 PM CST up reply actions

lets hope they want to play spoiler

No quit

I haven’t seen any quit in them, despite all the losing.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:35 PM CST up reply actions

NO!!!

not more Kornheiser talking about Favre and Rodgers again!

Frye is honestly gotta be one of the top 10 3rd Stringers in all of the NFL right now--colbyb

Mute it

That’s my usual strategy. That guy’s awful.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:36 PM CST up reply actions

"Favre has more more wins"

I accidentially heard that much before muting.

"Four More"

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

no need to look at his last 4 games

his stats are hideous

that's why

we let FAvre go…his stats over the last 7 games last season, including the playoffs, were very “ehhh”…

I am looking for Greg Jennings

to have a big game after being snubbed by his peers…I can feel that its burning him inside that they didn’t pick him….He is going to send a majur FU to the league tonight…

last game the Bears wide receivers didn’t have a catch till the late 3rd early 4th quarter if memory serves…that’s going to another key

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:35 PM CST reply actions

This is going to be...

…a high scoring game…that’s what my gut tells me

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:38 PM CST reply actions

Jennings

I’d love to see him have a big game. He’s been absent lately.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:39 PM CST reply actions

Here we are...

3rd down thanks to silly penalty #1

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:43 PM CST reply actions

Wow...

nice nice throw and catch…

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:44 PM CST reply actions

Listen Closely

and don’t get used to it, because I’m only saying this once. OK are you ready?

Go Pack, Go.

There I said it.

Need

Rodgers and Jennings to have a big night, I could win my Fantasy League.

On his 1st two passes. He’s been off in early in games lately.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:45 PM CST reply actions

oh geez...

once again the offensive line let’s us down…T Harris got penetration

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:46 PM CST reply actions

dare I say it...

“colledge got schooled”? lol okay bad one…this is going to be interesting, how does our defense do against the bears….last time, we destroyed them…

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:48 PM CST up reply actions

YES!!

That’s it…nice going Jolly…Jolly green giant sighting

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:50 PM CST reply actions

Another penalty

this is coming back…nice return though by blackmon

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:51 PM CST reply actions

so

who here is going to exchange their Packer stuff if they lose to the Lions?

by thewild_viking_twins on Dec 22, 2008 7:53 PM CST reply actions

If Mason Crosby

kicks 2 field goals today or a crap load of extra points, or some sort of combination, then I go to my fantasy super bowl.

by Adam Stites on Dec 22, 2008 7:55 PM CST reply actions

Maybe lots of FGs

Otherwise I don’t think this will be a big scoring game.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 7:59 PM CST up reply actions

Well...

I’m now down 1 point.
I get 1 for an XP
I get 3 for a FG

I feel like

we can’t do anything to stop those safety blitzes…we never pick up those blitzes…don’t know why

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 7:58 PM CST reply actions

That's ok

It takes along time for him to get to the QB. But Rodgers’ man wasn’t open so it worked.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:00 PM CST up reply actions

Rouse

They also seem to be keeping him close to the line of scrimmage to help against the run. Daring Orton to go deep.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:02 PM CST up reply actions

lol my goodness...

I was just going to comment that I see Rouse being very active…good change putting him for woodson…

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:02 PM CST up reply actions

I can't imagine they reverse

It doesn’t look like it touched him. Either way; it was an awful punt return by Blackmon. He should have been in a position to catch it one way or another.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

I'm sure

Blackmon got an earful on the sideline…

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:09 PM CST up reply actions

well..

this game has ground to a halt thanks to all these challenges

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:08 PM CST reply actions

Jordy Nelson

30 receptions…a pretty solid rookie campaign….

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:11 PM CST reply actions

Rodgers on the run

Man he’s accurate throwing on the run. Watch Tavaris Jackson for how not to throw on the run.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:12 PM CST reply actions

holy god

it looks so miserable there

"I'm so clean, cats think I sip Ajax."

by Mitchell Maurer on Dec 22, 2008 8:12 PM CST reply actions

Totally

I blame the Oline for allowing the penetration…and Oline for creating no holes for Grant…and the Oline for the financial collapse…and …no just kidding

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:14 PM CST up reply actions

*shrug*

you knew it was gonna happen to one of these teams tonight

it doesn’t help that the run game looks about as competent as a mall cop

lol

a mall cop on one of those scooters

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

That's ok

Rodgers looks great. Ignore the lucky bounce off the tip ball for an INT. He’s very accurate tonight. Shotgun all night long baby!

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

first first down

for the bears…I fear a momentum switch

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:16 PM CST reply actions

Pickett and Jolly

This has already been their best game of the season. Those guys have gotten shoved all around this season, but they’re killing the middle of the Bears OLine tonight.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:18 PM CST reply actions

Good morning all...

Blimey, Soldier Field looks colder than my flat right now. Other than the tip I’ve been reasonably (dangerously?) heartened by the play so far.

Maybe logging on here is the kiss of death……………………………..

Hunter sack

First one in his three year career. And he’s a pass rush specialist.

so when does he get his big contract?

oh, wait, Mike Sherman isn’t the GM. Anyone care to take bets on how long before Thompson ships Hunter outta here?

/ryan grant needs to get it together

by Mitchell Maurer on Dec 22, 2008 8:30 PM CST reply actions

Bit unfair

blaming Grant. The Bears are on top of him before he’s even sniffing the line of scrimmage today

by rudi on Dec 22, 2008 8:31 PM CST up reply actions

also,

Lovie Smith looked a LOT like Art Shell after that play. Like, dangerously so.

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:35 PM CST reply actions

Honestly...

IF the Bears fail to show up tonight, against a 5 and 9 team…then I am glad the Vikes win the division. The Bears are being pathetic thus far.

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Right now...

we have 158 yards, the bears 28 yards

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:37 PM CST reply actions

um...

hmmm…

that ain’t right.

Useless

More crap special teams.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:38 PM CST reply actions

Driver

Shit; he almost had it. Now I’ve got a bad feeling about his injury.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:47 PM CST reply actions

nice...

we need James Jones to pick up big time now…he broke out last week

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:50 PM CST reply actions

Jones

Way to step in for Driver. It looked like he took an elbow to the back of the leg. Might only be a bruise, might be a twisted sprained knee.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:50 PM CST reply actions

I love it...

let’s hold it till the very end…and get a TD here…

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:50 PM CST reply actions

2 minute warning

Will Chicago get a chance to add to their 44 yards on offense in the 1st half?

(Unfortunately the Bears have 78 yards on kick returns).

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:52 PM CST reply actions

Unless things go really pony

I’m happy for returns to be their most productive area

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 8:57 PM CST up reply actions

Grant

I can’t remember the last time a screen to Grant worked. And it gets them a TD.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 8:55 PM CST reply actions

all of a sudden...

after 6 carries for 2 yards, he has 6 carries for 38 yards and 2 catches for 27 yards…not too shabby

Ahhhhhhhhh

A nice hot drink for HT then. There goes my planned bed time – it’s already 3am here……

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 9:05 PM CST reply actions

4th quarter collapse

I’ve written a lot about their close losses, close leads surrendered in the 4th quarter. But usually, in all of those games, it was close (within 7 points) most of the game. The Packers never fell down by a lot. When they got a lead of 10 points (or more) they’ve usually kept it. At this point, with an 11 point lead, I’d be really surprised if they lost it.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 9:09 PM CST reply actions

if we have a 4th quarter collapse again..

it’s over, I root for the Lions next week.

But seriously, which is the 8- 6 team here? and which is the 5-9 team? We are killing these guys

can we find any new ways to blow games lmao!

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 10:44 PM CST reply actions

IS this the most

INSANE reason all year? once again, we shut them down completely, they got more yards in the 4th quarter than they had through quarters 1 thru 3…

That football outsiders article

I think McCarthy had to order on layway for this creative loss

It's like having access to a porn site

The stuff they showed in the article was a teaser only. McCarthy is a premium platinum preferred card holder.

Schooled

Chillar blitzes (easily picked up); Hawk is too far away (and falls down). Sums up the play by the linebackers all season.

by Brandon on Dec 22, 2008 10:53 PM CST reply actions

I just...

I just dont understand how this could have happened. The season as a whole I mean.

I already did..

so frustrated about this team. We are so much better than that record shows. This season is more frustrating then our 4-12 season. at least that season we were just bad.

disgusting

ahhh I hate this shit…this is the 7th loss of 4 points or less…against the Bears

by PackFaninFL on Dec 22, 2008 10:56 PM CST reply actions

Thanks for coming everyone

Come on. We all came into this knowing it would be another close loss. What we didn’t know was how. But the special teams took charge and handed this one to the Bears.

I'm out of words..

just sucks.. back to the ole drawing board. WE CAN’T LOSE NEXT WEEK!! I don’t want to be that team that let the Lions off the hook. We’ve got some serious issues to shore up for next year.

Have the Packers proved that it won't happen?

If it’s a close game in the 4th quarter, I don’t trust the Packers. Period. Not this season anyways.

In other news...

Jarrett Bush, your bus is ready for departure. Get the hell out of Green Bay already please. P.S.: when your kick returner yells fire, move the hell out of the way. The Bears biggest offensive play this evening bounced off your ass. Thanks for memories.
