Friday Injury Report for Week 2
Every week it seems like the Packers have half their team on the injury report, and the other team has three guys listed. Are the Packers injury prone or just brutally honest?
It looks like all these guys will play, except C Scott Wells, RG Josh Sitton, and CB Charles Woodson. The offensive line was fantastic against Minnesota, except for penalties (especially you Tony Moll!), so there's no reason to rush Wells. I'm not sure Sitton would start even if he was healthy. Woodson is a big loss, he's not being ruled out until game time but it doesn't look good. CB Tramon Williams would start in his place, and he already had one pass interference penalty this season. I can't see how Woodson will be able to play for a few weeks, at least, on a broken toe. No one in the secondary can replace his coverage skills and his ability to grab INTs.

Our front seven should absolutely dominate the Lions
I think we’ll be fine without Charles Woodson. We obviously need him more when we play Dallas, the next week.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Agreed;
the defense doesn’t necessarily “need” Woodson as much as they would against a more potent offense, like Dallas or Indy.
That said, I hope that:
Tramon Williams is up to covering Roy Williams. Tramon is a pretty good player, but I don’t think he’s as physical as Woodson, and when he tries to be he will get flagged for it.
Al Harris is up to covering Megatron. Obviously, if Woodson is out, this is the answer to the Calvin Johnson question. Harris is big enough and strong enough to cover Johnson, but his age is starting to show and he’s frankly not able to get away with as much contact as he was even last season.
Bob Sanders finds a way to give both guys help when they need it. Roll a safety to one side of the field. Double up when in nickel or dime packages. Blitz more to try to take advantage of Detroit’s line troubles. These are all necessary moves, but they’re also risky in that they open up seams in the middle of the field, underneath routes, and holes in coverage left by blitzing defenders.
Considering Dan Campbell is on IR, the only Lions’ player that even remotely resembles an offensive threat (pass defense-wise) is Mike Furrey. Also, given the amount of pressure that they put on Tavaris Jackson last week, and given that Kitna is not nearly as mobile, the defensive line should have a pretty good outing. Control Roy Williams and contain Calvin Johnson as much as possible, and this should be a win.
