NFC Playoffs: Arizona Crushes Carolina, 33-13

I didn't watch this game, but it doesn't look like I missed anything. I thought this was a bad matchup for Arizona because Carolina has a good pass defense and pass rush to limit Arizona. That part was somewhat right; QB Kurt Warner only threw for 220 yards on 32 pass attempts. But Arizona had such a huge lead that they just kept handing the ball off and didn't need to throw it in the 2nd half.

I expected Carolina's solid offense, great run offense and good pass offense, would have a great game against Arizona's questionable defense. Instead QB Jake Delhomme has one of the worst games in playoff history with 5 INTs and a fumble. I wasn't the only one expecting Carolina's offense to have a good Saturday night:

WHEN THE PANTHERS HAVE THE BALL

This is where Carolina has the advantage on Arizona. The Panthers offense was far better than the Cardinals defense this year, particularly in the second half of the season.

As Chris Berman says "That's why they play the games."

Happy Freaking Birthday Jake Delhomme.

watching half the game

to me it seemed like AZ did not blow out them out as the score suggests. I have not looked at any numbers but watching the first half it seemed like Carolina just didnt show up and lost the game for themselves. Arizonas D has not been very impressive all season but they were making Delhomme make too many mistakes. The Carolina D never stood a chance when their offense could not score or hold on to the ball.
