Mike Furrey?

Was released yesterday and i started thinking....kidding. well not completely. i realize we have the best wide receiver corps when healthy and i am in no way saying we should sign Furrey but he has impressed me. He has a great attitude on the lowly Lions and is from the same mold as Wes Welker. i believe he would have just as much success if he was on a team as capable as the Pats. he is a GREAT slot reciever and is not afraid to go across the middle. So insteas of the Fab Five spread out for the Pack how about the Super Six. Kidding again i do not think that is possible due to the regulation of number of players on the line of scrimmage. If we did for some reason need a WR would you want the pack to pick Furrey up?

I like Furrey

Like you said he has a great attitude and just plays how the WR should play! He would be an upgrade to almost any team. So i would love to have him but wouldnt give any of ours up unless we had too

I too like Furrey

but he’s got no place on this team right now. If he could gain 150 lbs and stuff running lanes, then that’s a different story.

Where are they now?

I was wondering what happened to that guy. Mike Furrey had 98 catches in 2006 after Mike Martz converted him from a WR to a DB and then back to WR. He followed that up with 61 receptions in 2007. He did that while battling injuries and a decrease in opportunities since they added WR Calvin Johnson in the 2007 draft. Then Mike Martz left before 2008, and apparently the Lions thought he left with him. Detroit placed him on the I.R. at mid-season although Furrey said he was fine. Sean at Pride of Detroit still likes the guy, although his numbers are Martz inflated. If Furrey’s smart, he’ll go wherever Mike Martz gets a job.

Furrey not right fit for the Packers

I remember watching the Lions Packers game in Week 2. When Kitna threw those 3 interceptions at the end of the game, 2 of those were thrown to Furrey. It either looked like he gave up on the route or was afraid to get hit. All of the receivers for the Packers are tough and not afraid to take a big hit.
