Packers 38, Vikings 17 |
Packer inactives from NFL.com: FB Korey Hall, RB DeShawn Wynn, S Matt Giordano, RT Mark Tauscher, T Breno Giacomini, C Jason Spitz, DE Jarius Wynn, LB Jeremy Thompson.
The surprise is Spitz, who Mike McCarthy expected to play. C Scott Wells will continue to start, as he's done for the past two games. FB Quinn Johnson and RB Brandon Jackson will play for the injured Hall and Wynn. With the season ending ACL injury to CB Will Blackmon, rookie 6th round pick CB Brandon Underwood will play in his first NFL game. LB Rookie 7th round LB Brad Jones will play ahead of the injured Thompson.
Lions inactives: QB Matthew Stafford, S Ko Simpson, CB Philip Buchanon, G Manny Ramirez, T Jon Jansen, DT Sammie Lee Hill, DE Jason Hunter, DE Dewayne White.
Stafford is the big name, but he was expected out. It looked like WR Calvin Johnson would miss the game, but he's going to play. We'll have to see how effective he'll be.

Green Bay’s passing game has played very well. The penalties and inept running attack is a downer, but the Packers are playing well on their own, not because of the opponent’s caliber.

Seriously....
… at this point if Lang gets one penalty and gives up one sack per game at LT, he’ll be a hero. After all, these are the 2009 Packers, where average OL play gets you all star treatment in the press.

I just hope they get Rodgers through the season healthy.
I’d love to make the playoffs, but at the very least, I don’t want this year’s atrocious OL to create long term problems with Rodgers, either physically or otherwise (see Carr, David).

That's a bad call.
I’m not making excuses for GB, but there have been a few personal foul calls today that probably shouldn’t have been thrown. And two of those came when the play should have been blown dead by the refs.
GB gets penalized a lot and it’s mostly deserved, but the refs have piled on a bit today.

Time to come clean
I’ve never had a true favorite NFL team. Just Randy Moss(I would probably be a Packers die hard if that trade happened). I decided this summer that the Lions would be my surprise team for ‘09(not DEN or CIN). I’m contemplating Lions fandom, but I really really like being an objective NFL fan. I’m stuck. Do I get in on the ground floor, or just stay a totally objective NFL fan?
I’m seriously torn on this.

Bad snap, and the ball was tilted on the hold.
That’s why he pulled it, I think.
Personally, I don't give a crap about Brett Favre.

*sigh*
So sad. Vikings L would have made the Packers W just a little sweeter…but oh well.
"False start: the whole offensive line." -Hocculi
Ya it would have
Plus, they’ll likely lose to the Steelers next week, so if we beat them at Lambeau we would be a game ahead of them.

secondary - vikes
clear that their secondary is poor.
would rather have them be lucky now then end of the season. they should be 4-2 right now.
oh well, maybe Packers will be their first loss.
Steelers do not look strong right now.
however, Troy will be full strength which will help.
Yep
That’s why I think they’ll lose. Plus the Steelers get great pressure on the QB. And Big Ben and that passing game has been on fire so far this year.

Game will be wild ...
I assume both quarterbacks will be under a ton of pressure. It will come down to who turns the ball over. Favre is due for a classic multiple INT game.
we keep hoping
but he seems intent on NOT doing that this year, drops for the sack right away.
And the refs look like candy-stripers

The Vikes are a very good team.
But they’re giving up a ton of yards every week, and they’re putting more pressure on Favre than they should want to. 448 more today. That defense can be beaten, but that fact is being obscured right now because their offense is playing so well that many of their opponents become one dimensional.
Favre threw 29 passes, gave up 3 sacks, and a few more hits. The more they have to rely on Favre now, the more likely it is he’ll fade again at the end of the year. They’re very good. They’ll make the playoffs, probably as a division champ, but I the Giants play better defense than the Vikes do, and the Saints can outscore them.
Personally, I don't give a crap about Brett Favre.

Q
would like to see a breakdown of when Quinn Johnson was in and rushing yds.
it looked like they avg. 6 yds a carry with him in there.
i was hoping they would go power football with him in the lineup, he clears people out and Grant runs better that way, Grant is too tentative in zone blocking.
Hawk
according to box score =
ZERO tackles
Not good.
Kampan, Barnett, Bishop/Chillar, Matthews
