SB Nation Week 7 NFL Power Rankings
Our SB Nation Week 7 power rankings are looking a little suspect this week. The Saints move up to No. 1 after clobbering the No. 5 NY Giants last week. But it means the Colts, who were previously No. 1, lose their top spot while on the bye week. Shouldn't they be allowed to remain No. 1? Meanwhile, the Packers move up to No. 12, but are still behind the No. 11 Bears despite having the same record and already beaten them in week 1.

And being ahead in the division...
Despite what the little ticker on ESPN says… The Packers are ahead of the Bears in the division.
that doesn't mean
we are better. I am not sold that our team in its current condition is better. We came out and rocked the Bears in week one but a lot changes in 6 weeks. Until our oline improves, I am not sold that we are better…we SHOULD be better but we aren’t playing better.
I don't really care where we are in the division
All that matters to me at this point are the wild card standings and tie breakers.
damn
looks like another trip to the meineke car care bowl. crap.

The only reason
we beat the bears is because our suffocating defense confused cutler. If he had thrown say, only two picks, would’ve been a lot closer. Hell, we lost to the Bengals, and didn’t look very sharp against the rams, who seem to be one of the worst teams in the league. We’ve got the talent to be a top 10 team and are playing like a middle-of-the-road group. Although we did manage to expose the vikings pretty well…

It doesn't matter at this point
The Packers should crush a terrible Browns team. After that, the Packers could very well lose 8 out of their last 10 games. Even if the Packers play better, they will not come close to making the playoffs.
It all starts with the Vikings game. The Packers lose the rematch. Minnesota likely goes to their bye with a perfect 8-0 (7-1 at worst with a surprising loss to the Steelers) record and a commanding lead in the NFC North. After that, the only two easy wins for GB are @TB and @DET. I simply do not see any way Green Bay turns this season around and makes it to the playoffs as a wild card. Obviously, neither the Bears nor the Packers will win the North. It will not even be close. Even if Favre goes down with an injury (more likely Rodgers goes out with as many sacks as he’s been taking), the Vikes still make it because they are simply a better team. Favre will heal because he doesn’t stay down for long. So I look for him to be ready for the playoffs anyway should he miss any games this season (still unlikely). Isn’t it great that Ted Thompson ran Brett Favre out of town so he could play for another team and continue to put up top numbers? No offense to Rodgers, but Favre is a winner. Ted Thompson is not. Favre saw the mistakes TT was making and voiced his opinion. TT did not like that. Most fools cannot admit when they make mistakes.
TT has made a GIANT mess of things. It is too late to do anything about it now. The best the Packers can do is fire the man (or men) responsible and move on. Get rid of Mark Murphy, Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy. They are liars and fools. We as fans deserve more. Let us hope that our new QB doesn’t waste his career (or have it ruined by injury) with these guys running the organization.
As for the rankings, we are lucky to be in the top half. Towards the end of the season, we will be in the dregs of the rankings. Wait and see.
Look...
Even as a fan of the purple your post is way off base.
First off, crowning the Vikings as even 7-0 is a bit premature. They are playing the Steeler’s on their home turf and at 4-3 they are in almost a must win situation.
Second, it is the Vikings second game on natural grass and it will only be around 45 degrees at game time. This is a huge challenge and will really put them in a situation to show what they are made of.
As for the Pack, although I am no TT fan, to say he ruined this team is ridiculous! Do I think you are a realistic SB team this year, no. But i do think you have a very, very young and talented team that has made a lot of right decisions. Favre had to go. You needed to move on. And Rodgers fits much better with where you are headed and it was a move that you had to make sooner or later.
Now, as someone who has gone on record definitely not admiring the guy. I think you have gone way off base. You will challenge for the division and IMO make the playoffs.
I thought you were a packer fan until I saw your name
way to be classy PJ
Kind of a shame the Rockies aren't around to win it for Balloon Boy

A Viking fan commenting on Packers' GM?
I mean no offense, but I’ve been a fan of the Packers for quite some time. You claim to be a Vikings fan. I doubt you have as much invested into watching the state of affairs for the Packers. The fact is, I probably understand what is happening more than you do. You have the right to your own opinion, even if your argument has no substantial evidence to back its claim. As for how TT ruined the team, what more evidence do we need other than win/loss records? How did the Packers finish last year? How many playoff appearances have the Packers made since TT came to the Packers? Remember, the Packers were winners BEFORE Ted Thompson arrived. The Packers won four straight NFC North championships just before TT came into the picture. TT arrives and immediately tears the team apart. He desired to rebuild the team rather than win NOW. The team could have won with Brett Favre and made another run or two at the SB. TT chose instead to destroy the team. Of course, he may not have thought he was destroying the team. He may simply be incompetent as a GM. He has some good qualities as do all people. But his failures far outweigh his good decisions.
TT needs to go. Learn more before you question a true fan from another team.
For those overly optimistic Packers fans, that is only human nature. You are not realistic. The Packers are struggling, especially with that o-line. If the defense can stay healthy, that might help, but not much. Switching to 3-4 was one of the worst mistakes I’ve seen in years. The Packers will struggle against average to above average teams. Why? The Packers are an average team. Face the truth. Fire the people who need to be fired and make the Packers winners again. I do not want to wait another 30 years before we go to the SB.
No offense taken
I have gone on record many times as no TT fan. I can understand anger toward the man trust me! I don’t necessarily disagree with everything you posted, just a good part of it.
First, you anointed the Vikings as 7-0 and the points I noted above are reasons this is off base. They are also going to play without their Pro Bowl CB Winfield which is not going to make it any easier.
Second, I don’t see any way you lose that many games (as many as 8 of 10) with the talent you have. If you had a better offensively line you would be an extremely tough team.
Winnable games
the Packers could very well lose 8 out of their last 10 games
Easily winnable: @Browns, @Bucs, vs Seahawks
A little harder: vs Cowboys, @ Lions
Within reach: all the rest
My prediction: Packers will win at least 8 games this year (assuming they don’t have another spectacular defensive collapse like last year)
The Packers lose the rematch […] Favre is a winner […] the Vikes still make it because they are simply a better team.
If you are looking for this place, you know where to find it.
HTH. HAND.
