Looking ahead...Good news for Rodgers
The rumors out there is that Winfield, the Vikings only real high quality corner, is out for the next 4-6 weeks. The Vikings are continuing to push the week to week prognosis but there have been many sources out there saying that the goal is the Nov 22 game against the Seahawks. A Vikings team minus Winfield is FAR less dangerous, and in my opinion Winfield is the most important piece to that defense due to his coverage abilities and skill at playing the run (combined with excellent tackling). I hope the Packers have a plan to attack this new weakness...losing Finley really hurts but this might be a game for Jennings to break out!

jennings can break out! We need him too. But at the same time I wouldnt mind a repeat performance by DD… Anyone know if Jordy will be back?

Winfield might've been able to limit either Jennings or Driver
and they could’ve double-teamed the other. Without Winfield though, expect a big game for Rodgers whether they can protect him or not. I don’t really expect them to take one from us in Lambeau

The problem with that rumor
is that there’s rumors that he’ll be ready to go by Sunday.
Winfield himself says he’s “week-to-week”, which effectively gives us no idea where he’ll be.
I expect he doesn’t play this week…but I wouldn’t be shocked if he did. Dude’s tough.

of course the team says he is week to week. They want us to plan on him being there so we don’t spend as much time scheming on how to exploit his backups. Honestly with what I’ve heard on this injury (I live in MN) I can’t imagine him not waiting until their bye week. He’s not the kind of guy you want to risk losing for longer for one game when you have a bye on the other side.

I don't think Winfield is the issue here
Not trying to knock the guy, he’s a great player but Driver has beat him before and he can only cover one guy, we have more quality options at receiver than they have quality guys to cover said receivers. They key to Rodgers success like the last game will lie in the ability of the offensive line to give him time in the pocket.

I see the point....
… but that’s less true without Nelson and Finley. Finley is a particularly big loss, but Swain < Nelson and doesn’t exactly require a good cover guy to shut him down.
What begins in fear usually ends in folly.

True
Although I think our current receiving corp is deep enough to handle a Vikes secondary missing Winfield.

Recievers
Losing Finley is bad but what about that Havner guy. Hope for a repeat performance?
The Vikings have a 17th ranked defence with Winfield playing. The packers are 4th overall and give up about 2 yrds less rushing. This would be a big help for Rodgers passing game. We held AP to 55 yds last game. They might not have B. Berians services. Looks like a hammy to me.

Vikes Fan Here
Steelers and Packers are #’s 7 and 8 in passing offense after this past weekend.
W/o Winfield, the Vikes were able to hold the Steelers to 175 yds passing (about 105 total rushing), so it’s very possible to overcome his absence, especially if our front 4 can get pressure on Rodgers. If not, it could be a long night for the purple.
Go Vikes!

Well to be fair
Your front four got plenty of pressure last game on Rodgers (8 sacks), and he still threw for 385 yards with Winfield in the lineup.
I live in MN and have heard the rumors about Winfield only being day-to-day. What do you think will end up happening?

Now that explains it all!
That is why you are constantly on the Daily Norseman!
Isn’t that funny, I live in Green Bay and you live in MN! I have season tickets to both Green Bay and Minnesota. I have sold every Green Bay ticket for the last two seasons, except for this Sunday’s game.
Look for me, I’ll be wearing an authentic purple Favre jersey. I’ll be holding up a clever sign. You should definitetly DVR the game. Cause no doubt, I’ll be caught on camera!
After the game you will have wished Favre was still a Green Bay Packer!
That is GUARANTEED!
Favre is the Greatest QB (past, present, and future) to have ever played in the NFL!

Judging from your posts here, I find it very hard to believe you could think of anything clever.

I thought you would never post over on APC?? Or at least that’s what you told me. Or was that just another one of your empty statements?

True, Rodgers threw for tons of yards with the pressure, but those 8 sacks were a large reason we came away with the w.
Without Winfield this past weekend, the coverage wasn’t too shabby, really. What do you think about Ben/Holmes/Ward vs. Rodgers/Jennings/Driver? I don’t know enough to make a comparison, except that they’re all good enough I know who they are without being a fan of either team.
If Winfield isn’t 100%, I hope he sits. This game is huge, no doubt, but just like the last one it’s only 1/16 of the season. We have 8 games after the bye – reinjuring or making the injury worse won’t help us at all.
I live in DC, so only hear/read what I get from TDN or the Star Trib.

That is a good hypothetical there.
I would still go with Driver, Jennings, Rodgers. I swapped the QBs, so Ben is a Packer and Rodgers a steeler, and I still think the WR duo of Driver/Jennings is better than Ward/Holmes. I would consider Ben slightly better than Rodgers, but the WR duo make up for it on the Packers. I don’t know but that is a touch one. :P
As for injured players, I consider Winfield injured, not hurt. I don’t care who you are, but playing injured nowadays is not even heroic. Looking at some of the players of the past and how they have to get around with the aid of canes, wheelchairs, and other methods, it is not worth living your life like for one game, no matter the importance. There is a difference between hurt and injured though.

Up and down
The backup Vikings CB rotation did very well against the Steelers’ receivers. But they got torched by QB Joe Flacco the week before (Winfield was knocked out during the Ravens game). I’m just point out the inconsistency, and while they did a great job in Pittsburgh, it was only one game.

Makes sense. Everything good that has happened to his teams since 1998 has been solely because of him and everything bad that has happened is simply due to his inferior teammates letting him down. Oh, I almost forgot, sometimes it was just that mean old GM who was intentionally making the team worse just to spite him.

Favre
KC612 is correct because Favre will be the only one left on the field at the end of the season aftrer everybody else is on IR. So he will have to win it by himself.
GO PACK!!!
