This game is extra special for me,
because I just had a major breakthrough in my life. After months of searching, I finally landed a full-time, grown-up job. It’s not what I want to do with my degree, and the hours suck, and the pay isn’t nearly enough…but it’s a job. And I could not be happier.
A quick thanks to all the well-wishers on APC. You know who you are, you filthy rascals.
Now, let’s have some football, shall we?

Well done, sir.
No mean feat these days and doubtless an enormous relief.
Waiter! A double helping of beer-cheese soup for the newly employed over here.

A question I just thought of...
When’s the last time Green Bay had a truly elite running back? I mean, Ahman Green was nice for a while, but I wouldn’t consider him elite. And Dorsey Levens was servicable for a while, but he wasn’t even close.
I’m just saying…I’ve got AP-envy. The dude is a monster, and I would like one of those, please.

Everyone is picking the vikings

We gotta get some revenge on that long-time Packer now playing for the enemy

Medium pass, 20 yards or so
The rest was some good running
kind of in between
a roll out and about a 25 yd pass with a run after

4 man rush a lot to begin with, out of a base 3-4, and do what you guys did on that last play, which was show a 6 man blitz, but rush 4, and change up where the 4th man comes from
Disguising and faking is the key. , Favre when feeling pressure from a good DL push, will cause some forced throws

Not just unlucky.
He and Jennings made different reads and Winfield ran the best route. The pass shouldn’t have been thrown, but Jennings can’t get beat coming back to the ball either. Just like the rule that a WR can’t give up inside position on a slant.

a double move the next time

The way Jennings is talking to the staff...
I am wondering if there was a miscommunication between QB and WR on that pick.
Could have been.
His break to the outside wasn’t crisp at all. Very round, circular route, and that doesn’t work in the NFL. Might have been that he read a deeper route than Rodgers.

Rodgers has thrown to Winfield’s side 3 times; 1 pick; 1 near pick, and 1 completion.
Favre has not thrown to Woodson’s side once. No picks. No deflected passes.

Highlights . . .
First drive Rodgers fumbles, Favre TD to Shiancoe, Packers come right back and score on a long TD to Finley. Get the ball back, go for it on 4th and get it on a crazy tipped ball to Jennings, throw a pick on the next play, some stuff happens, I think I went to the bathroom , Then the matthews strip-and-score. Now the bad call against Woodson that really didn’t matter anyway, and a TD for AP.

That's what I don't like about the 3-4...
as far as Kampman is concerned…the leading DE sacker, big playmaker, is standing up and his abilities are neglected…and that’s getting in a three point stance and QB hunting!
He should rush the passer on at least 50% of his snaps I think.

Bullshit Call
Man, what is up with the refs this week
A Proud Penguin fan since 1997.
Happily supporting the Stanley Cup Champions 12 years later.
Doesn't matter
If the PI doesn’t get you, the Off-sides would have.
Favre knew that which is why he just tossed it quickly before the play could be whistled dead.
That’s why it’s called a “Free Play”.
everyone
wants brett the “hero, godlike” to win bs calls tonight
Had nothing to do with Favre
The play was off-sides.
Favre knew it but he had to get rid of the football before the whistle sounded.
He didn’t care if it was a risky play because if he got the TD, the penalty gets declined.
At worst, he still gets all his downs.
The PI came later.
While unfortunate (or fortuitous, depending on the point of view), it wasn’t necessarily a game-breaker.
Ridiculous....
that was an interception…horrible call
there was an offsides anyway I guess

not to sound like a whiny bitch
which is exactly how it will sound…
but WHAT THE HELL is with the major discrepancy in penalties in the first half? I saw at least two egregious offensive holding calls on the Vikings’ first two drives, uncalled. I have not seen any defensive penalties, but Woodson’s PI call in the end zone was as ticky-tack as ticky tack gets. Yes, the offsides would have reset it regardless, but the officiating is simply too one-sided.
It doesn’t help that I’ve seen the head ref chatting with Brett Favre during the game at two seperate occasions…but whatever. Green Bay isn’t losing because of the refs; the fumble, INT, and inability to cover receivers downfield is doing that. But the refs aren’t calling it even.

by Vermont Cubs Fan on Oct 5, 2009 9:12 PM CDT reply actions
Not very well against The Traitor
He’s been killer on third downs, just as I remember him. He has 154 yards and two TDs.
Here's the story of the first half:
Both teams have had opportunities to make scores happen. Green Bay’s have been on big plays (Jermichael Finley, Clay Matthews), while Minnesota’s have been far more methodical (Favre’s 2 TD’s, Peterson’s TD).
If Green Bay has any hope of making a run at the win tonight, they simply MUST keep drives alive on offense and kill them on the other side. Adrian Peterson has been kept somewhat in check, but the blitzing is taking people out of coverage and Favre is picking the D apart. On offense, Minnesota’s pass rush is simply too good for Green Bay’s front line.
Halftime adjustments, anyone?

So, really the scoring has been like the rest of the season
Vikings nickel and dime, Packers go for the splashy plays
The most interesting thing about halftime
will be learning about how Peterson is feeling. Something is up with him, after that strip by Matthews.
His knee looked a little tweaked on that one...

"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
Minnesota will threaten to put the ball on the ground and play the possession game.
That means you’ll have a limited number of possessions to score points.
I wouldn’t count on Favre throwing you freebie interceptions either (especially if they stay ahead).
He’ll stay with short routes which will be impossible to pick-off unless there’s a screwy deflection.
You’re best chance relies on Rogers (of course).
The only way Favre will take chances is if the Vikings are behind.
OK...halftime assesment
This is all one Rodgers….too many turnovers, too many sacks….Ryan Grant is playing well, i’d like to look at the run if we can hold them on the opening drive…and our defense is doing what it needs to do to shut down AD, but our pass coverage is looking bad
"stay (green and) gold"
Harsh to pin it all on Rodgers
Clay gave all the momentum shift, and then the pass defense let Favre waltz down the field with little resistance
The pocket isnt holding, so you adjust, Play action rollouts, counters, tosses, quick hits.
Need to adjust that gameplan so that the defensive pressure slows down and is forced to wait and watch
Bleeding Black and Gold.....forever
by Michael Hewitt on Oct 5, 2009 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions
Rogers is throwing well (despite the turnovers)
He simply has to stay within his game and get rid of the ball (just throw it away). Those sacks are killing the Packers.
I know how you feel
We have Ben, as great as he is, sometimes he just holds the ball far too long

I'm a G-man.
But I’m a fan of the game.
Ben is a great QB who’s tough to bring down.
The man is huge; but he has to learn that as big as he is, he’s no match for a Linebacker.
Again, it's not the turnovers are over and done with.
But if Rogers continues to take sacks, those are the drive killers.
As ever
it’s a story of turnovers and sacks.
Twice giving the ball up in the red zone combined with Rodgers unable to release the ball has left us where we find ourselves.
Why not join about 1/3rd of us
