Welcome to Green Bay, where EVERYBODY gets sacked!
Allegedly, coach Mike McCarthy and Lambeau maintenance employee Mike Wood got into a massive brawl that spilled out into the streets and engulfed two square blocks in their flames of rage.
Nah, just kidding. Wood said to McCarthy, "Don't lay an egg." At least, McCarthy thinks that's what he said. Regardless, McCarthy asked Wood's supervisor for his name, and Wood was terminated earlier that day. Say what?
I'm not sure what to make of this. Both sides stick to their story, and it's so bizarre that others have little frame of reference for it. A non-story getting blown out of proportion by poor team performance and a need for a scapegoat, or a sign of McCarthy's seemingly imminent departure? I'll let you decide.
And the inquiries as to my whereabouts are appreciated, but unfortunately I'm powerless to change my work situation (yet). But I'll figure out a way to make it all work.

Jeez...
While I would find it out of line to make a snide comment to Packer coaching staff by maintenance, I wouldn’t think one deserves to be canned over it either if it was a simple motivational ribbing. As for McCarthy’s imminent departure, I don’t think he has anything to worry about. Ted Thompson has to stick with his guy or it would be akin to admitting a mistake. Personally, I am not a Thompson hater. He’s done some things I like and some things I don’t. But we’re still a young team with plenty of cap room and room for improvement on the field. We’ve had some players not pan out or be injury prone but I still like where we sit for the long term…

I disagree
I think sticking with his guy will lead to the end of his own tenure. It would be telling everyone that what we’ve seen this year (undisaplined play, underachieving, etc) is what he’s expected from his coach of the past like 3 or 4 years. I think it would show management that he isn’t willing to admit a mistake which is a terrible sign. They need a more experienced coach to lead and grow this young team…hiring someone with no HC experience I think might have been a mistake and that is coming from someone that had MM back all season.

hiring a HC with no HC experience
is a chance you always want to take when beginning a rebuilding process, that way they dont get greedy and demand team control.
However, if they don’t work out (cough) then you bring in the experienced ones to take them all the way
I still have his back though, for now…
id rather have a 24 year old (human years) dog that has advanced parkinson’s batting for our team than vlad.

I agree with most of this
I wonder though if we had Sean Payton how we’d be looking. I hated the McCarthy hire but then he grew on me. But after the last few games I’ve had enough of the penalties and just total lack of change/adjustment.
I just get the feeling that he’s way over his head.

EXACTLY how I felt…I hated the hire, he won me over and now I am done. I am convinced that I was right in the first place! :-)

This was a great quote and sums up how I feel about this:
Again, who should be fired? The guy who said “don’t lay an egg,” or the guy who LAID AN EGG…
