Tex's "Friday" Preview - Lions II
So...I know it's not Friday, but it is the day before the Packers play the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. For this holiday game, instead of analyzing matchups (which I've already done for the first game against the Lions anyway), I've decided to give you the things about this Green Bay Packers team that I am thankful for. I'll start it off with the big one.
He has been the epitome of football toughness this season, considering how many hits he has taken over the first ten games. Under that pressure, he has also done a remarkable job of avoiding turnovers. I think it's clear that without him behind center, this team would not be 6-4.
Chuck is a turnover machine, plain and simple, and should be in the upper echelon of players discussed for Defensive Player of the Year.
The new 36 has stayed healthy (knock on wood) and his presence allows the corners to do their jobs and gives Dom Capers the confidence to blitz his linebackers, knowing that Collins will play the proper coverage and be in the right place. If Collins doesn't get a Pro Bowl nod this year, I will be surprised and disappointed.
Everybody seemed to write him off this year as being too old or too slow. DD has proved every one of his naysayers wrong, as he has done his entire career, and he's well on his way to a 7th 1,000-yard season. If he can keep up a similar level of production for another 3 or 4 years, I think he'd be a legitimate Hall of Fame candidate. Plus, he's just so darn much fun to watch. Watching him enjoy playing football is like watching...a former Packer who will remain nameless. I just can't help feeling all warm and fuzzy when I see that big, bright smile after a touchdown reception.
As a final note, I love both the pro and college games, and I consider myself blessed to live in a place where I can watch this fantastic sport as an escape from the real world. Furthermore, I am thankful for those in harm's way who do not enjoy this luxury as they defend our country. As much as we discuss toughness and heroes in relation to football, we cannot imagine the toughness and bravery of our men and women fighting for the freedoms that we enjoy. You have my thanks, and I will forever keep you in my thoughts.
I hope you all enjoy a great meal tomorrow with the people you care about most during or after watching the Packers beat the Lions soundly.

Well said Tex
Especially about those who are in harm’s way. “Thanks” isn’t a strong enough word.
Frye is honestly gotta be one of the top 10 3rd Stringers in all of the NFL right now--colbyb

I don't really know if there is a word appropriate to show how much we appreciate those people.

If you could add two more: Kampman and Harris
Big losses, but I think we will be able to recover. Secondary may hurt more than our D-line/LB/hybrid thing.
