Open Thread: Sunday NFL Games
What's everyone watching this Sunday since there's no Green Bay Packer game?
I'll be watching the Steelers at Ravens on Sunday night because the Packers are playing the Ravens next week, though it might not be a true test if QB Dennis Dixon is lousy as the Steelers new starting QB. I'd like to watch the Bears at Vikings, but I don't think my honey do list will allow it. Those Christmas lights have to get up somehow, don't ya know.

not looking good
Campbell throwing back to back ints….
TD Redskins!
And meanwhile, Atlanta are going to pull the Green Bay – losing to the Bucs. 17-10 at the moment.
Why do we bake cookies & cook bacon?
Cant believe we would be 8-3 if we would have beaten the Bucs. Ouch!
Some people say the glass is half empty, some say half full. I say, are you going to drink that?

I'm not sure we would
I’m not sure that a win over Tampa wouldn’t eliminate our sense of urgency against the Cowboys. Either way, we should be able to make the wildcard game.
Why do we bake cookies & cook bacon?
I'm watching Colts-Texans.
Houston started out on fire (leading 17-0), but Indianapolis has stormed back to take a 28-20 lead.

Trust me guys
as big a mess the Redskins look like, its even worse than you think.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Some final scores from the early games:
Buffalo 31, Miami 14
Seattle 27, St. Louis 17
NY Jets 17, Carolina 6

Atlanta stays alive
Neither Tampa nor Washington hold on to their respective lead. Damn.
Why do we bake cookies & cook bacon?
We needed Washington to hold that one.
Who leads the wild-card chase, Philadelphia or Green Bay?

But man
if Matt Ryan is going to miss extended time for the Falcons, I just can’t see Chris Redman outplaying even a slumping Matt Ryan. The Falcons didn’t look good today win or lose.

I guess I'm rooting for the Vikings
Even if they lose to the Bears, can anybody see any conceivable way they’ll blow this divisional lead to us? I don’t. Plus a loss pretty much eliminates the Bears.

The Bears can lose later
But it’s really hard to root for either. I root for a tie, at least that way neither team wins.

I don't know
a tie is so unlikely, I don’t so much use in rooting for one.

Well realistically I'd root for the Bears as I hate them much less than the Vikings
But I’d rather put bleach in my eyes than watch that shitfest.

Joe Buck just said
Favre has never had skill players around him like he’s had this year. So Freeman-Brooks-Chmura-Levens vs. Harvin-Rice-Shiancoe-Peterson. The receivers and tight ends are a wash but I have to give Peterson the edge over Levens. Thoughts?

I really think
The Packers receivers from the mid-1990s were better. More evidence that every “sports” network is becoming little more than a PR outlet for Favre.

Honestly
that comment wasn’t propping up Favre as much as it was the guys around him. I don’t think anybody’s more sensitive to the ridiculous Favre coverage as I am and as obnoxious as Joe Buck can be as an announcer, I don’t really have a problem with him making a statement like that.

Watching the Queens-Teddybears
They just reviewed the recovery of an AP fumble. Wasn’t that unreviewable (if that’s a word) two weeks ago in the Cowboys game?
Why do we bake cookies & cook bacon?
direct tv
watching all of it.
no help for the packers today.
every team we wanted to lose ended up winning today.
no worries, nobody said making the playoffs was easy. If the Packers take care of their own games they will make the playoffs.
I just hope these other teams beat each other up and vikings, saints, etc go into the playoffs limping. Hopefully, Packers had all their injuries in the beginning of the season. Vikings have had no major injuries besides Winfield. They are due.
If the Cardinals win thats good for us
we want that division clinched by week 17. Also, the Vikings winning is good because it makes the possibility that the Cards can play for a bye week seventeen.

They just lost on the last play
All three teams we needed to win lost on the last minute. Harsh.

Don't get too down
The big one we needed was the Giants to lose and we got that on thursday.

yep
again, we should be fine.
I think we beat the Ravens, CHI and SEA for sure, and are strong enough to compete against Steelers and Cards.
Even with todays result for the Cardinals
I don’t think we’ll be seeing their top guys. Thats a good football team that will probably have their shit wrapped up by week seventeen. Maybe we’ll even have our shit wrapped up by week seventeen.

We can beat the Cards with their starters
There’s too much talk about that. If we do our job, we could have the wildcard clinched by then.
Why do we bake cookies & cook bacon?
The Giants are freefalling.
They started off so hot, but I wonder if the game at New Orleans exposed something for them, and if so, what exactly was that something?
They haven’t been the same since.

Maybe Eli's
foot stress reaction? What ever the hell that is! But they were saying if it gets any worse it could turn into a foot stress fracture and he would be done for the season if that were to happen
Not sure.
Depends on how bad it is, even if he is playing through pain.

Not too good
Dixon has looked overmatched in his first NFL start, but did good on his TD run. Both teams have been able to run the ball. But for the Ravens, they’ve had an unexpectedly good game from WR Mark Clayton (in large part because Steeler CB William Gay looks awful), otherwise their offense is Mason and Rice (who both have looked good) and nothing else. Rice has been so dangerous. They’ve had a lot of problems with the Steeler blitz. They should have won it and the end of regulation, but a huge special teams penalty (very Packer like of them), and then a last play sack and fumble, killed that chance (the 56 yard FG attempt was just short). OT is ongoing as I’m typing.
