Digress: Chargers Crush Titans 42-17
I'm not a VY fan, but this line stunned me. Obviously the rushing yards are good, but those passing stats equal a 11.9 QB rating. The Chargers defense just isn't that good. There has been many good things said about Young as he reclaimed the starting QB job for the Titans, but to play this bad, at home, in a must-win game puts a big question mark on his back.
I thought the Titans could win this game, but I have only watched the Titans a couple times this season and I forgot they had to replace two starting LBs this week. Tom Gower pointed out last week against the Dolphins how the loss of Thornton and Bulluck had hurt the Titans. It's not a surprise that TE Antonio Gates had a big game.

Vince Young
I was so disappointed in how poorly he played. I have Chris Johnson in one of my fantasy leagues and am in the championship this week. I guess I can’t complain because he still had 142 rushing yards and a TD, but it’s frustrating to think about how much more he could have done had Young not turned the damn ball over 3 times.
Young has looked good since coming back but not yesterday. He still is struggling with reading coverage a lot. That defense is really different without Haynesworth. They got great rush of the edge but all Rivers had to do was step up in the pocket because their DT’s were getting pushed backwards most of the game.
Chargers Pass D ranked #9 by YPG
Compare to some of the teams VY has looked good against: Jaguars (27), 49ers (29), Cardinals (24), Rams (22), Dolphins (23). Bills ranked at #3, but only because they are so awful at run defense (#32) nobody tries that much to pass on them.
I think the Titans’ 6-1 run was mostly a result of somewhat better play combined with a softer part of the schedule than first 6 games.
Maybe
I don’t think the Chargers defense is very good though either. They can be run on, and their pass rush is no where what it used to be along with their secondary. Young just made 1 stupid decision, 1 bad throw and decision, and had that fumble that was costly. I believe the Chargers got 7 off of all these TOs and that pretty much put them out of the game.
On a side note has anybody else noticed there really aren’t any dominant defenses in the NFL this year? It seems like every year there is a team that you know isn’t going to give up much on defense but we don’t seem to have that this year. Seems like whatever team is able to out duel the other offensively wins the game.
