Clay Matthews Is The NFC Defensive Player Of The Week

The great rookie season for Green Bay Packer LB Clay Matthews just rolls on. He's been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. His stats were great, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 3 QB hits, but he didn't stand out as much because all the linebackers played well on Monday. LB Nick Barnett had 1 tackle for a loss, LB Brad Jones had his first NFL sack, and LB A.J. Hawk had the game clinching INT.

Yeeehaw! first! just kidding...

Congrats to the Clay Nation. It’s going to be a huge test to see how these guys rebound on short rest to Chicago, a rival and with all the elements…and I mean the youngsters Clay Raji and BJones.

Meanwhile I am savoring this little award. We have a future star!

It might end up being one of the better drafts we’ve had in a while now!

3 players making an impact on defense

Yeah I would say that makes up for a bust. Every GM has a bust on their record. Show me one who doesn’t.

Frye is honestly gotta be one of the top 10 3rd Stringers in all of the NFL right now--colbyb

You can add to his stats a forced fumble

It makes a great stat line become incredible.

Hopefully he can keep it up when teams start planning against him, and if he does, he should be a dominating force in our linebacker group for years to come. I really like this dude.

Good Pick Up

I am a Viking fan living in the frozen tundra. I have watched Matthews play all year. I have been impressed with. I think that he will be the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year hand down.
