DE Brian Orakpo at Texas' Pro Day
At Texas' pro day, the only NFL GM to attend and watch DE Brian Orakpo was the Packers' Ted Thompson:
"Orakpo did not disappoint, posting a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump, a time of 4.45 in the short shuttle and 7.26 in the three-cone drill. Orakpo held the rest of his numbers from the Combine.
Thompson would never tip his hand, but I think that Green Bay would probably be interested in someone like him for their new scheme. I know Thompson was impressed with Orakpo and expressed surprise at how big his upper body is."
Some people love him, but I'm not 100% sold on him. He's had trouble staying healthy. In Green Bay he would have to convert to outside linebacker and not everyone is convinced he can make the switch.
It would be very ironic if he was drafted by Eric Mangini in Cleveland at number 5 overall. Cleveland plays a 3-4 defense and Orakpo would likely be converted to outside linebacker. Last year, when Mangenius was coaching the Jets, they used the 6th overall pick to take LB Vernon Gholston, who's been quite the bust as he attemps to convert from college defensive end to an NFL outside linebacker.

Why aren't
you sold on Orakpo? He seems to clearly be the best pass rusher available. So he has had trouble staying healthy, but so did Adrian Peterson and he turned out pretty good.

That goes both ways
Do I really need to bring up Justin Harrell?

Leave it to Ted Thompson
I still have faith in Justin Harrell recovering from his injury and getting healthy. He is a very athletic defensive lineman, he just has issues staying healthy. I think he’ll come around as a solid RE. As for Orakpo, if he’s available, take him if TT see’s him as the best available player. It’s him, BJ Raji, or an OT.
