first day surprise...

With the first day done with... what player or team was the most surprising?

-Oakland picking Heyward-Bey instead of Crabtree

-The Jets Trading all the way up to number 5 for Sanchez

-Everette Brown slipping to the second round (many thought he could have been the Packs pick)

-Raji and Orakpo both being on the board for our #9 pick

-Tyson Jackson at #3.... really?

So what does everyone think was the biggest shocker? I really think KC reached far to get Jackson with the #3 pick.... But then the Jets gave up a ton too to move up... And Al Davis well enough is said just with Al Davis

Not totally surprised by most...

Believe it or not, I saw mocks that had Oakland taking Heyward-Bey based upon Davis’s obsession with speed. The Jets were rumored to be one of the teams bent on getting Sanchez, so it was hardly surprising that the Jets bet the house on Sanchez. Although I think that KC was foolish to pass on Curry for a 3-4 end, there were many who called that pick before the draft. And, many mocks had Raji and/or Orakpo going to the Pack at 9th, although I do not know how many had both available when we picked.

However, I know of no one who thought that Everette Brown was going to fall completely out of the first round. Thus, I must put that up there with Ted Thompson boldly trading up, rather than down, as the biggest shockers to me in this draft.

Yes

I wasnt necessarily shocked by the jets move but the actual move all the way up to 5 and how much they gave up for him….

TT was a huge surprise on day 1. But going back to Brown why didnt we grab him instead of Matthews?

I don’t think pat white is a gamble at all. The were known to run the wildcat offense a lot last season and white fits in that scheme perfectly. He and brown running that could be a deadly combination.

I was really shocked about E Brown dropping so far. Some mock drafts had him in the top 10. But that’s the way the draft works you never really know who is going to go where.
