At No. 187, It's CB Brandon Underwood
With the second of their two 6th round picks, the Packers select Cincinnati CB Brandon Underwood.
I called him a cornerback above, but he projects as an NFL safety. He's tall (6'1") which seems to be a preference for GM Ted Thompson. Two years ago, Thompson drafted 6'4" S Aaron Rouse. Just like Rouse, Underwood's coverage skills have come into question, but he's got good range and is a good tackler.
The Packers top three safeties last season all missed time or were knocked out of games with injuries. The situation forced CB Charles Woodson to move over to safety for a couple games. Underwood won't move ahead of the top three safeties currently on the roster, but he adds depth to a position that needed it.

If that is what TT and McCarthy wants to do, I support it. If he has the tools that better fits a safety, he should be a safety then, especially considering he wouldn’t get much playing time as a CB. Charles Woodson should not be a Safety, at least for another couple years. He is a shut down CB right now and we need him there. Once he shows signs of decreased production, then we can think about moving Woodson to Safety.
