Friday Rookie Minicamp Roundup
I'm following Greg Bedard's Twitter because the lucky guy gets paid to watch the Packers and I don't. Here's a roundup of his tweets:
DT - B.J. Raji is the real deal.
LB - So is Clay Matthews.
OT - Jamon Meredith was playing at left tackle, and looked really good.
OG - T.J. Lang is playing at guard, which isn't a big surprise. It always seemed like he would wind up there.
FB - I didn't think they would have drafted Quinn Johnson if he wasn't a good receiver and it looks like he is a good one.
DT - Fred Bledsoe was waived. A little ironic since he earned himself a roster spot this time last year.

Good thing the QB's are wearing red jerseys
otherwise Raji and Matthews would destroy them.

Count me among those....
…that are absolutely GEEKED about this upcoming season. I think our front 7 has a chance to be special…and remember, we are playing with arguable 4 new front 7 players as Jenkins was out last year and Barnett for the second half too…if we stay healthy and if we can get some sort of development out of Hawk, we can be special…
Heck we won 6 games last with a threadbare front 7…how many can we win next year with more health and with the thoroughbreds we have added on defense? and even in 8 or 7 of our losses we had the leads in the 4th…
Yeah I’m STOKED….

It hasn't sunk in yet
Although I write about the Packers every day, it hasn’t really sunk in yet. I think I need the preseason. I need to see them on the field. Adding Raji and Matthews at the two positions their two weakest positions should make a big difference. Normally I wouldn’t say adding two rookies automatically adds a couple wins, but the Packers had so many close losses last season, that playing Raji and Matthews instead of Cole and Poppinga could have easily turned one or two close losses into wins.
