Jon Jansen

The Redskins relased their 10-year right tackle Jon Jansen today. My question is, with our current uncertainty at right tackle, should we consider offering Jansen a 1 - 2 year deal? It would give us time to groom a replacement, which seems like it would be either Barbre (who's switching from the left side), Lang (who's a rookie that no one seems to know if he can play tackle in this league), Moll (who has never really impressed me), Giacomini (who's still recovering from surgery), or Meredith (who we would prefer at left tackle).

NOOOOOOOO

I live in the suburbs of DC and watch the Skins every Sunday. He is over the hill and just all around awful now. He was a big reason for Campbell’s struggles this year. He was kind of banged up this year, but ultimately was benched for lack of production. I don’t think he has had a healthy season in 3 or 4 years.

I too live in the suburbs of DC

and watch the ’Skeens every sunday. He was an above average right tackle at best in his prime. He was just plain bad last year. The pathetic thing about the Redskins o-line is that they basically tried to give the starting right tackle job to Stephon Heyer and he could barely beat Jansen. Jansen being well past his prime and being quite prone to season ending injuries.

Basically not only is Jansen bad, but he’s reaching that rarified air of being in the Steve McNair/Orlando Pace injury sure bet zone.

’Course its a moot point now cause he signed with the Lions.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Nope

If he could have stayed healthy during his career, it would be worth considering. He probably could still play if he hadn’t gotten so beaten up during his career. But Jansen’s always battling something. The Packers are better off going with a youngster.
