Fantasy Football is Coming
I'm going to be organizing a fantasy football league through Acme Packing Company, maybe more if there is enough interest, and I'll have all the details in a week or two. I may even have a prize to award the league winner. There should be a lot of fantasy football league and other information all over the SB Nation football blogs next month.
I wrote a Packers fantasy preview for the folks over at Razzball.com. Although I won't claim to be any sort of fantasy football expert; I really don't follow trends or projections league wide well enough. I'm only now starting to warm to the idea that a 5'7" running back who has never had a 1000 yard rushing season really could be the No. 2 overall pick in most fantasy leagues.

Do old members of the league get priority seating?

I wouldn’t mind being in a league. But I don’t like the free leagues, people give up after a couple losses. If you want to REALLY have an interesting league I suggest you have a buy in and the champ gets the proceeds, while the other team in the SB gets his money back w/ a little kicker…
Seems to be the only way to assure some semblance of league participation.

Completely Agree
people will just get bored, not pick up good free agents, and not take out injured players leading to only 2 or 3 teams caring about it at the end of the day

However
I rather fail to see how just giving all money to the champ and runner-up will keep all teams interested. The biggest problem is not the teams alive for the championship, it is the teams NOT in contention for the title.
If your goal is to keep everyone interested, the entire prize for the champion should come from the bottom four teams. The next four teams get 1/2 their money back, with the other 1/2 going to the runner up, with the rest of the teams getting their money back. That way, even the worst teams have something to play for… trying to get 1/2 of their money back.
Thus, if there were 12 teams and the initial fee was $10, the champion would get $40 (plus the original $10 back) from the worst four teams, the runner up would get $20 (plus the original $10 back) from teams 5-8, and the 3d and 4th place teams neither win nor lose money.
The bottom teams would have a reason to compete— to lose $5 in 8th place rather than the whole $10 for finishing worse than 8th.

Looking forward to it...
The only problem is, I try to form my fantasy team solely around the Packers, (last year I had Rodgers, Jennings, Donald Lee, Crosby, and the Packers D). It appears it may be a little more difficult in this league.

About MJD
He did have 62 rec, 565 rec yds, 14 total TD’s last year. But I agree. I can’t justify taking him #1 overall. I would most def take Michael “Burner” Turner over him.
A PPR league would be a whole different story though.

I'll play
However, if someone who has been posting to the site for a longer time wants my spot, I would step aside for them.

You think I would just forget about last season?
