Today I will preview the another division in the NFC: the NFC North...
1) Chicago Bears (10-6). The Bears have finally landed the franchise QB they've been lacking for decades in Jay Cutler (credit Broncos coach Josh McDaniels for the assist). While having RB Matt Forte around will help Cutler, who will step up and become Cutler's favorite target? My money is on the TEs Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark. Their defense will determine how much the Bears will dominate this division.
2) Minnesota Vikings (9-7). The quarterback who will not be named has finally arrived in Minnesota -- much to the chagrin of yours' truly, Packers fans, and even some Vikings fans. I think that diva act he pulled in his waffling will backfire sooner rather than later. You his teammates are pissed that he got to skip training camp and START at QB no less! While I think this may go worse for him than it did when he was in New York last season, the Vikings running game and run defense alone will keep them competitive.
3) Green Bay Packers (9-7). The Packers found a gem in QB Aaron Rodgers. They have the talent on offense to continue at a high level. I'm just not convinced about their defense. Their defense was the reason why the finished poorly in the division last season. If their defense responds to new defensive coordinator Dom Capers' 3-4 scheme, look for the Packers to pass the Vikings in this division.
4) Detroit Lions (1-15). The Lions are FINALLY moving in the right direction. However, they are still devoid of talent outside of QB and WR. Their offensive line will get rookie QB Matthew Stafford killed. And last I checked, they still do not have a defense. Heck, their first-team defense gave up 20 points to the Browns first-team offense! It's going to be another long year in Motown -- just don't expect another 0-16 season.
