dammit, Crosby
Accuracy has been a huge problem this preseason.
You HAVE to hit that.

Crosby is really
starting to tick me off…I’m concerned abou thim
O-Line
McCarthy gave them a few opportunities to open some running lanes for Grant and he got nothing. He can’t be happy.
Defense did its job
the pressure is getting to Cutler on the first series. Me likey.
Now let’s hope that the offense can find a seam somewhere on the field. Urlacher looks so much faster than last year.

Good coverage
Hester got a little too cute with that stop-spin. Glad to see Korey Hall rip at the ball while Derrick Martin was bringing him down.

After one quarter, here's what we know:
The defense is working: Cutler, Forte, and the rest of the Bears can’t get into a rhythm. Cutler in particular looks out of sorts.
The offense is not: Rodgers has displayed some agility in the pocket, but he can’t juke his way out of Adwale Ogunleye’s unabated rush.
Run offense? Non existent thus far.

It couldn’t have been that good, as Grant took almost half the season to record a 100-yard rushing game.

As soon as I saw TE Havner in as a blocker, I knew this was a TD. He is a hell of a lead blocker.

I gotta ask...
anyone else think that the Bears went to the pass way too often tonight so far? I mean, they are mostly a running team, but they have taken Forte out of the equation most of the time so far.
Just to clarify...
Cutler has passed the ball 22 times in the half— that is a ton, when one considers that they have hardly been hugely successful attempts.
I think Lovie is trying out his new toy
Perhaps he should put it away
Just say no to players named Aaron on the Cubs.
I agree with you.

Giacomini
I was hoping they could bench Barbre for Giacomini in the 2nd half, but Giacomini is inactive. Barbre’s has fallen apart and killing the offense. They’ll have to do something with him in the 2nd half.
If theres anything I love more
than the defense forcing a flustered QB on the other team into a timeout on an obvious play, I’ve not found it yet.

Maybe it was an injury that caused that result. I hope it was a mental error, but he looked awfully slow getting over to try to make the play.

At least we’re finding out that Urlacher was right about Cutler… Total pussy.
This is beginning to feel like deja vu all over again...
We have blown so many opportunities for big plays.
As soon as Collins blew that coverage
every ounce of momentum has switched. I am very, very worried.

wheres the awesome packer receiving core from last year? this looking alot like a game from last season….
Hard to run routes faster...
than Barbre is allowing the rusher in on Rodgers.
OK,
Collins is out, Rouse is in. This forces Woodson back outside and away from the middle of the field.
This is a very bad development.

We need to get back to the run also!
We have hardly used Grant the entire game. That could help stabilize the blocking for us like it did for Chicago.

I'm more upset about the way this game has gone
than Serena Williams is at the bogus line call at the US Open today.
With those injuries on Chicago’s defense, they had BETTER get something going on offense to take the lead back.

If Mike McCarthy loses his job after this season
He can look to the play of the O-lines during his tenure…
That is an excellent point
I don’t think he’s on the hot seat, but it’s interesting to see how the offensive line can never quite get settled under McCarthy. The preseason showed us that they had taken care of that business, but I guess this Bears defense has revealed that weakness.

we're going down
we just have trouble with these guys …3 out of last 4 lost
THe thing is...
this is looking like last year… our defense is tough for 3 quarters and here in the 4th they give up a game ending drive it seems….
Well
They were out on the field way too much, the offense couldn’t sustain a drive, because of how bad Barbe is. The defense is really why we won that game.

How Can You Blame The D?
The offense has produced 6 points and the D has produced 7… Offense hasn’t done crap

I meant 3 for offense.
my bad, mistake
by redraidercominatya on Sep 13, 2009 10:26 PM CDT up reply actions
When a defense creates three turnovers
and however many punts, the offense simply has to produce.
Not to mention Urlacher, Tinoisamoa, and McBride are out, Tillman is coming off freaking BACK surgery, and we have “the most explosive offense in preseason”.
IF they hold the Bears to 3 and IF they get a good return and IF they can somehow get into FG range and IF Crosby can hit it, they can win.
It feels too much like last year for my comfort.

The biggest thing right now is to get the Bears down in bounds
and make sure Hester doesn’t break a seam.
I’m torn on whether they should keep up the pressure or test their coverage. Cutler is easily flustered, and when he’s had time, he has delivered. But do you sell out with just over a minute left and a 6-point lead?

Not on defense
We forced Cutler to throw 4 INTs, and got good pressure on him pretty much the whole game. You better hope your o-line figures out how to pick up the blitz by week 4 because when anyone comes within 4 feet of Favre now he falls down to the ground.

Bottom line is that if GB can get their RT position squared away, they put up huge points. Barbe was single handedly shutting down drives tonight. I thought GB was their own worst enemy most of the night, with all do respect to Chicago.
And yeah, you beat Cleveland, and it still took you a half to figure them out. They’ve got less talent than either Chicago or GB. If you want to get cocky about that, go ahead.

As much as we should be concerned about our O-Line
they should be just as concerned about their defensive backfield. On a night where the Bear Corners and Safeties were afforded ample QB pressure, when it really counted they blew it. Everyone on here thought the Bears had weak defensive backs and we were not disappointed.
What does this have to do with Mike Tirico? If anything he’s a Lions fan, he’s from Detroit.

That was pretty bloody tense. Now I’ll never get to sleep.
When it looked as if the game might be decided on a dodgy call I was mightily pissed off; who’d have bet the moribund offence would choose the last possible moment to prouce sometghing special. Hester spent the whole game lining up off the scrimmage line and was never called on it, so I[m glad we won or I’d be forced to hunt and kill all the refs and I really just don’t have that kind of time spare.
Ah… another drink, I think… :-)

It’s all about priorities, man.

All in all I thought the refs were pretty awful.
It did’t help that the crew chief appeared to be terrified of being on the microphone. Doesn’t exactly instill confidence. And they blew two calls on that illegal contact play alone! That’s hard to do.

Seconded
I remember a few weeks ago on Brew Crew Ball that on a an analysis done using computers revealed that the Brewers had the most blown calls on pitches in the strike zone in the entire league (something like that, I can’t remember), but I feel like it’s the same thing with Packers. It’s hard to be a Wisconsiner sometimes.

I woke up
listening to one of your local stations (god bless the internet!) and they were saying the winning play was originally supposed to be a Grant run, but Jennings lined up on the wrong side so Rodgers was forced to call a TO. Then the pass play was called but even then Jennings was the secondary receiver.
The safety telegraphing his intention made up Rodgers’ mind and the rest is sweet, sweet recent history…..
