Friday Injury Report: Green Bay Packers at Rams
The Packers full injury list is after the jump. Just a mess of an injury report with four starters listed, K Mason Crosby, and 2009 top draft pick NT B.J. Raji.
SS Atari Bigby will miss his 2nd straight game, while LT Chad Clifton will miss at least a couple weeks with a bad ankle. FS Nick Collins is listed, but his clavicle injury wasn't serious enough to keep him out on Sunday. Crosby is still battling a weight training injury from last week, but he'll play. LB Aaron Kampman wore a club on his hand in practice this week, but it was just precautionary.
Some injuries just happened this week in practice. CB/S Jarrett Bush should play through his injured ankle, but it will be SS Derrick Martin who will get his first NFL start at safety on Sunday. FB Korey Hall doesn't start anymore, but he'll be missed on special teams. I'm not sure when LB Jeremy Thompson injured his knee, I guess this week in practice, but he might be left inactive anyway.
I'm not sure when RB Brandon Jackson is coming back from his preseason ankle injury. Can we please, please, see the first action from NT B.J. Raji this week? He'll be a game time decision, and the run defense could use his help.
The Rams injury list is short, but they've got two big names on it. No. 2 overall pick, T Jason Smith, will miss the game with an MCL injury. It's believed that C Jason Brown also has an MCL sprain, which isn't as severe and he should be able to play on Sunday. Brown might not be a big name player, but he was the Rams big free agent signing this offseason.

Odd-timing
But I just wanted to thank you and Mitchell for all the great work and effort you guys put into this site. It truly is educational in the football sense. Really guys, thank you!
Also, Raji, what’s up with the Packers and him? At first the injury wasn’t that serious but it’s kept him out two straight weeks and now possibly three? Are they not fully saying how hurt he really is? Just odd.
I really wish we had Jackson back as the third down guy.

You are welcome, sir.

Raji
They are just begin extra cautious with him. He almost played last week, but the game time decision was to hold him out. It’s frustrating for sure, but it’s what needs to be done if he’s not healthy.

It's probably because they thought
“Oh, it’s just Cedric Benson, we won’t need him.” Better not make that same mistake against Stephen Jackson!

Three injuries in practice?
I guess going to pads for both Wednesday and Thursday increased the intensity. It would be nice if the players took their Bengals game frustrations out on the Rams, but you can’t have it both ways. Either you simulate game intensity and risk injury, or you go at a lower level and risk getting soft.
As for Raji, he’s a huge man with an ankle injury. Those tend to linger, so they want to see him running without a limp before he plays. Ankles and knees are weak links for large men. There’s nothing you can do to make them stronger. You just have to keep them healthy.

Only Bush for sure
But otherwise I don’t know where the injuries to Hall and Thompson came from. They might have got hurt during the Sunday game, but they weren’t brought to McCarthy’s attention until Monday because he didn’t mention them in the post-game press conference.

I think Nick Collins
having to leave a game and then come back two weeks in a row indicates to me that when everyone else was in OTA’s, Nick was sitting on his ass. The injury in the Bears game reaks of bad fitness.
If your really gonna be a great safety, Nick, let’s try to not emulate Bob Sanders in that respect.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Raji
How can he AGAIN be questionable? MM said the injury wasn’t that serious week 1 and now here we are week 3, and it’s the same thing. We need him in there. We can’t have him sit out this week and then expect to have him come out week 4 against the Vikes and play well. I get that they want to be cautious with him but having him in there improves the whole dline, we need him.

Kampman
hopefully he’ll have use of both his hands vs. S-Jax.

Thank God
I just looked at an injury update and Raji is listed as active and likely to play! Haha now I just hope I can find an online stream to watch, as I live in MN and the Vikes always are on fox.
