From The Washington Post: All About Cheerleaders
I've got another article up at the Washington Post discussing whether the NFL should do away with cheerleaders. You can follow the link to read my long answer. My short answer was: NO!
I have no idea whether the NFL is seriously considering the idea. Should they?

No
but it would be nice if the Packers imported some decent looking women for their sidelines. We could start with the cheesehead bikini girls and work up.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
I wouldn't miss them
Honestly, I barely even notice they are there. If you think about their purpose, there is NO way they are able to get a crowd of that size up and cheering. They use music for that purpose now. Don’t get me wrong, I like looking at girls in skimpy outfits as much as the next guy, but ultimately I wouldn’t miss them if they were gone. Maybe if I was in Dallas my feelings would be different.
All NFC North rivalry aside
please DONT get rid of Cheerleaders… we dont even have any :(

It really only works in the south or a dome
Once it hits November or December, they somewhat lose their appeal when they have sweatpants and heavy jackets on.
hate to say this...
As much as I love the eye candy, I think one day, one year, cheerleaders will go the way of beauty pageants! These are all traditional acitvities that came out of an era when women were treated as meat. They come from a male dominated era where women were objectified. Like that one lady said in the WashingtonPost comment section, more and more women don’t want their daughters to see cheerleaders. In this post-feminist, more men and women will come to feel that way.
Maybe it’s time for the NFL to recognize this trend. Who knows.
Wow, Jeff Jagodzinski got fired in Tampa as Offensive Coordinator…former Packer
who needs them!
I can remember games from my youth where the local high schools provided the cheerleaders- it is so Wisconsin. I am happy to see they currently use local college cheerleaders from the area. I want someone there to get the crowd going and focused on the Packers not take away their fan energy to look at T and A. If you want that – hit a Hooters before or after the game.
I think a better idea would be employ a group of young women to be parking lot ambassadors. Send them out with Packer goodies to mingle and yes even party within reason (hey Max could cocktail while on the air, a beer or two isn’t going to hurt) with the tailgaters on game day. Arm them with camera and notebooks, then create a fan website or publish in the newspaper. That just seems to fit the Wisconsin mindset better then skimpy outfits and dancers.
Pack FaninFL? Are you the one with the Packer truck on the side of the road going to Key West?
And I am not all that surprised about Jagodzinski ( guessing he grew up on the south side of Milwaukee). If you remember he ran the offense for one year and helped lead to the demise of Mike Sherman. Then off to BC where he did make them a #10 team – but that seemed to be from the arm of Matt Ryan and not his coaching. To be honest he never me impressed in either situation. Not sure how you promote a man who failed making a first round draft pick, Bubba Franks, into even a halfway decent player as the TE Coach.
