Punter Tim Masthay Signs
JSOnline.com reported that the Green Bay Packers signed P Tim Masthay. NFL Draft Scout says he might be a better kickoff specialist then punter, but as a punter he was a first team All-SEC selection in 2008. He signed with the Colts after the draft, but was waived in August. He's also tried out Buccaneers and Patriots. It looks like he's got a powerful leg, but maybe the accuracy isn't there if he hasn't been able to make a team.
It's not a big signing, but the Packers need to do something about their awful special teams, and finding any competition for P Jeremy Kapinos is a good place to start.

Haha alright! We’ve already begun to address some of our problems! I don’t care if he isn’t accurate, as long as he can consistently boom punts 50 yards :).
I remember him.
He was waived shortly after I visited training camp I believe. We had drafted a rookie punter in the seventh round, Pat McAfee, but brought Masthay in for a look. I liked his resume and what little we saw, but in the end there was no roster space for 2 punters.
I hope he works out in GB.
Was wondering the same thing myself. I figured it was because we were happy with how Kapinos was performing towards the end of the year but if that’s the case then I’m not sure why we would bring this guy in now?
Oh well, I’m just happy that we did bring a guy in.
