Open Thread: Cowboys at Vikings

SB Nation Vikings blog: Daily Norseman

SB Nation Cowboys blog: Blogging the Boys

I'm sure anyone reading this is more interested in the two NFC games this weekend then the AFC games. The Cardinals were beaten and broken (literally, at least 3 starters were pulled at times with injuries). Now it's the NFC North champ favored to beat the Cowboys

I'm expecting it to be the best game of the weekend. While the Vikings played better overall this season, their defense has been hurting down the stretch without LB E.J. Henderson. CB Antoine Winfield and NT Pat Williams have also missed some games. They've lost 3 of their last 5, though all 3 losses were on the road. I expect the Vikings will win.

As much as the Vikings are limping, the Cowboys are playing great. They've just thumped their divisional rival (Eagles) in two consecutive games. Their defense has been playing great down the stretch and QB Tony Romo has avoided turnovers (lately). They might be without RB Marion Barber, but RB Felix Jones might have a bigger impact with his speed on the outside.

And I don't think Loadholt will slow down Spencer

nor can Sullivan stop Ratliff.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Agreed

Ratliff’s an All Pro DT and Sullivan is an undersized center, he replaced Matt Birk this season, and he’s had some trouble too. The Cowboys sometimes only rush Spencer, Ware, and Ratliff. If they can pressure Favre with just those three, the Vikings are toast. The Cowboys will get him sometimes, but I think that line will holdup well overall.

Luckily, Red Wings-Blackhawks is on NBC to give me something to watch this afternoon.

what i've learned this year

from the season, playoffs, and this game in particular that protecting the qb on offense and getting after the qb on defense is SOOO important.

we desperately need to upgrade our Oline and get a monster pass rushing OLB opposite Clay.

we pretty much have no chance to beat the vikings in the foreseeable future with the pressure they put on the qb and how well they protect favre (or whoever they draft in the coming year(s)).

3-4 first downs, medium loss on first down, tiny gain on second down, missed third down. It’s like Garret gets on a roll, pats himself on the back, and then overthinks it.

When they are doing Cardinals games,

They are supposed to be “objective.” However, they are so pro-Cardinal that it’s not even funny.

When they cover games involving Cardinals division rivals (such as the Brewers or Cubs), they sound as if they have lost their best friends when the division rivals score.

Doin' well.

Waiting for my Chargers to figure out a way to gack it up in the playoffs………………

I'm just hoping it's a watchable game

It has been an awful playoffs so far.

It has been.

Regardless who your pulling for, every game has basically been unwatchable from a competitive standpoint.

That Colts game was shocking yesterday. How the Ravens can go from awesome to putrid in a week is beyond me.

Yea, I didn't watch it but I saw the highlights

It looked like it could have been closer if not for a few big mistakes by the Ravens, namely Ed Reed fumbling during his interception return.

It was just a horrible game to watch.

Wish us luck CK.

I hope the Chargers win, I don't like Rex Ryan

But I haven’t watched enough of either team to really make an accurate prediction. My guess though, is that Sanchez plays like a rookie and the Chargers pull out a win.

Yea, it didn't look like a very good game

I’m thinking I made the right decision watching the Gophers ball on North Dakota

Bad snap!

Don’t see that very often.
