Badger O'Brien Schofield Tears ACL

Bummer. From JSOnline.com:

The Wisconsin senior suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Senior Bowl practice in Mobile, Ala...

He was projected to be a second- or third-round pick in the April draft.

"That kid earned his way here this week," Green Bay Packers director of college scouting John Dorsey told the Journal Sentinel, about 30 minutes before the injury. "He really did a nice job last week and opened eyes. A good player."

Here's to a full recovery. I just wrote about him last week

That's really disappointing for OB.

That said, I’d love to snag him in the 4th or 5th round and perhaps throw him on IR or the practice squad. I still think he’ll be a very good OLB, and having that year off would allow him to work on the mental aspect of that position.

ACL tears are hit and miss...

So unfortunate. His draft status will drop so he may become a steal. Like Tex said, IR him for a bit to get that tear better and see what he can do after. A gamble, but a nice one though.

What a disappointment

I guess the good news for us is that he’ll likely tumble in the draft so we can get him for a bargain now if we are willing to wait out the injury.

Yeah, could be a blessing in disguise for us if TT is at all interested at getting him. Though, I apologize to Schofield for referring to his injury as a blessing in disguise. Hopefully he is still able to acheive his dreams!

This is my first post here and while

I’ve already posted my thoughts on this on Buckys5thquarter, this is pretty bad.

Schofield is injured, but the Packers certainly could use another playmaker on D and O’Brien can play a great 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. Think they would have done better if SOMEONE had dropped Roethlisberger on the final drive at least once without a penalty? Schofield can do that.

I find it sad that the only Badger on the Packers this year was Mark Tauscher, and he didn’t join the team until midseason. All other factors being considered, I think Tauscher’s veteran presence was vastly underrated and the Packers struggled badly in pass protection without him.

If Schofield is available in the 3rd or 4th rounds, THAT’s where the Packers should pick him up. That is if the Raiders don’t continue their great tradition of drafting Wisconsin defensive linemen…
