While We're On The Subject...
So he says he's likely not coming back. Maybe. Who knows? I hope he either goes away or comes back and his physical skills really start eroding.
I did enjoy this little diddy, though: "I didn't feel like I had anything to prove coming in. But if there were doubters out there maybe I served notice to them, but my goal is to get to Miami and obviously that's not going to happen. If it is [my last game], it is no doubt I'm on top."
As Peter King might say, the GALL of this man is unbelievable.

All I can say...
THIS IS NOT DETROIT MAN, THIS IS THE SUPERBOWL
He really does live in his own little world, doesn't he?
He keeps mentioning (and so do his Viking minions) how he really proved something this year. It begs the questions, what exactly did he prove? That he is a tough SOB on the field? I guess no one thought that about him in his previous 18 years in the league. That he is a Hall of Fame QB? I guess we no longer have to wonder if he’ll make it in. What a relief! That he asks his own questions in press conferences? I guess no one noticed that before either.
I’m fairly certain he understands that to “go out on top” you have to win it all, unless of course you’re Brett Favre. My guess is now that he will come back in 2010 and retire after that, that way if there’s a lockout in 2011 he can think that the entire league is shutting down since he won’t be playing anymore.
Frye is honestly gotta be one of the top 10 3rd Stringers in all of the NFL right now--colbyb

Outstanding.

It’s not like all the stuff you mentioned isn’t stuff we didn’t already know. How some are unable to recognize how conceited and self-righteous Favre is, is confusing too me.

"I'm on top"
Kinda implies that he thinks he did all HE could to win, but that his teammates (cough AP cough) blew it for him.
Not too far from true, actually, but way to throw your teammates under the bus.
This is just one of those things...
that Brett Favre does. He likes to set up strawmen that he can knock over easily. When he left the Packers, the issue really wasn’t that people thought he couldn’t play anymore but he likes to manufacture motivation wherever he can….so we get stuff like this. So he got hurt last year, and had a good year this year….surprisingly good. Great. Let’s be honest here, the questions are always as much or more about the tendency to manipulate the media/spin as it is about what you can do on the field. The “doubters” doubts are mostly about whether you mean whatever it is you are saying at a particular moment in time, and have little to do with whatever you are doing on the field.
On top of that, this is another example of how much the guy likes to hear himself talk. He’ll give a long circular answer to a question, and at the end of it all he really hasn’t said anything at all. What the hell does this quote mean, exactly? You need a decoder pen for half this stuff.
The only thing more annoying then these circular long winded non-answer “answers” is when he goes into self interview mode. He gets tired of the questions, so he just starts handling it start to finish himself…..“Could I have handled things better? Probably. Could they have? I think so. Can I hold up a season? I think my record speaks for itself. Is this the most talented team? Maybe……” On and on it goes! Nauseating.
We’ve seen it all. We all have our decoder pens. I think we are probably all thinking the same thing. This guy is going to hem and haw for 6-7 months. He doesn’t want to go to camp (with good reason). He’ll miss as much as they will let him, or can get away with. And then he will play.
Several reasons. He is still playing well. They have a good team around him. He cannot stand the thought of just handing the Packers the “honor” of preseason favorite. He can still be a burr in our side, and so it shall be. He can’t give this up, but he can’t give up the 6 month media blitz before it becomes official either.

I’ve always thought this was one of the funniest things about his press conferences. I’ve said before that no one needs to attend any of his pressers. Just put a tape recorder in front of him and let him go. It’s not like a reporter is ever gonna ask him a tough question anyway.

recorder
Just put a tape recorder in front of him, leave and come back 5 hrs later… Favre just finishing one of his non-answer, answers to his own question.
Reporter: You about done there Brett?
Brett: I don’t know, you guys just keep asking me questions, so I just keep answering myself!!!
LMAO
And always take note when he says
“Honestly”, “To be honest with you”, or “To tell you the truth”, because he’s probably about to be less than honest with you.
