"Wii: more fun then the Pro Bowl"

By the way, thanks to everyone who wrote the great comments in #ESPN Favre Rules For All. Though I don't know if they made me want to watch more Milwaukee Brewers baseball next season or less. Seeing Jeff Suppan throw his 75 mph meatball last season was brutal. Hopefully he's released sometime during training camp.

Why is Aaron Rodgers at the Sundance film festival?

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Thats the thing about upcoming star QB’s. They get invited to swanky, high-falooting events with other up and comers even though there is no real reason for them to be there. You gotta admire that.

Oh, sorry. Wrong thread.

This article from Time Magazine

says that Robert Redford is really trying to get away from the glitzy showcase the festival has become in recent years.

Can’t think a Pro Bowl Quarterback is quite what Mr. Redford had in mind.

But thats the thing about Aaron Rodgers. He doesn’t really care who America’s greatest living actor wants at his film festival.

I think all you packers need to find a way to get over Favre.

It’s not healthy to have your blood pressure up at these levels.

Yes, to verno329 you will listen.

In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

At least he didn't "kick" away your dream season like AR did.

As much as I would welcome him back, I personally hope Favre retires. The probability of success at the age of 41 is very small. Especially when the only definition of success that is associated with Favre is a super bowl championship.

I’d rather my team lose on a flukey play then lose on my Qb making a terrible decision.

I guess when you commit as many turnovers in a playoff game as the Vikes you have to develop a sense of humor about it, huh?

The Vikes were the only ones who were chasing a “dream season.” See the Packers have a window of opportunity that is larger than 1 season. I know its hard to understand but give it a shot sometime.

It's not hard to understand, I know exactly where you're coming from.

But, you are operating under the assumption that AR will be able to lead your team to the SB. A theory which I vehemently disagree. (at least not the fumblin bumblin Rodgers that we all know at this point in time)

Take out Lombardi and Favre, and you don’t got much. In fact its pretty bad. (And yes I’m aware that the Vikings have 0 superbowls)

Rodgers isn’t going to be the third name on that list.

by dsludo on Jan 28, 2010 8:30 PM CST up reply actions

Rodgers isn’t going to be the third name on that list.

Based off of what? Did you watch our Rodgers and our offense at all after we got Clifton back healthy and Tauscher back? In the last 8 games where they both started for us at OT we were 8-1, and averaged 30 points a game. Including 27+ performances against the 49ers, Steelers, and Ravens.

And while Clifton and Tauscher both helped a ton, the reality is their were both pretty average for us. Imagine if we draft a LT that can be our starter for the future in this years draft? Too see what Rodgers could do behind a horrible-to-average o-line this year was impressive. Can you imagine what he may look like with a couple of above average OT’s like every other elite Qb in the NFL this year had?

When you post things regarding the Packers do your thoughts go any deeper then “the Packers suck”? Do you actually look at things from a football perspective or just your feelings towards the particular team, player, or topic that is being discussed?

The Vikings are a great team, and probably the most talented one in the league. The reality though is they have 5 defensive starters on the wrong side of 30 (3 of those being Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, and Antoine Winfield), a dilemma at Qb if Favre doesn’t come back, and an aging McKinnie and Hutch, who both are 30+ years old and showed signs of decling this year.

If you really look at our two teams regarding the future and feel as though we have no shot at a SB because AR has a “fumbling problem” (4 fumbles lost this season) maybe you should change your name to delusional.

by packallday555 on Jan 29, 2010 12:22 AM CST up reply actions

Its a few factors...

The main one that I don’t think that Rodgers can carry a team. And we all know Teddy T isn’t going to open up the pocket book to surround him with talent. (although his current WR’s are excellent, and making AR look better than he is) Thompson is going to make Rodgers carry the team just like he made Favre do the same. Not sure why he’s scared to spend money on talent, but I guess that’s your issue.

With talent around him you can see what a 40 year old qb can do. If I was a Packers fan I would blame Thompson for not building up a team, because if he would have done that with a 34 year old Favre, you guys could have had a serious contending team. 2007 could have easily been a super bowl.

by dsludo on Jan 29, 2010 8:00 AM CST up reply actions

Rodgers is already carrying the team. You just told us the team doesn’t have the talent around him cause TT won’t open up his wallet and they STILL made the playoffs. Rodgers was the ONLY offensive player to make the pro bowl and we still had (one of) this highest scoring offenses in the league…not to mention one of the highest in yards too. I guess the problem with the argument you are making is that it has no proof to back it up. You are just bitter because the Packers have ANOTHER franchise QB that will be here for 10-15 years and you are still stuck trying to get by on 38-40 year old guys on their last leg.

by TrevorR on Jan 29, 2010 9:25 AM CST up reply actions

His “argument” is defeated by his own statements.

No reasoning backing up why Rodgers can’t carry a team (I would listen to that argument if he could present one). TT isn’t going to surround him with talent…except for his WR’s, who make him look better than he is. And TT will make Rodgers carry the team like he did with Favre, huh? Personally I hated the way that TT made Favre carry the Packers from ‘98-’04, you know, before he even had the job.

The main one that I don’t think that Rodgers can carry a team.

He carried our team last year and this year?

For the most part the talent is already there. We need OTs and a Cb or too, but even the Cb thing is kind of a wash considering we were trying to play with our 6th and 7th guy as our nickel and dime back due to injuries. He doesn’t necessarily need to go out and spend money. He could draft a good LT this year in the 1st round, and grab a couple of Cb’s throughout the draft and we would probably be just fine.

That’s not say I don’t want him to spend money though because I do. If we went out and grabbed a big name guy, like you guys did with Allen, we would likely become instant contenders.

2007 SHOULD have been a SB, not COULD have. Favre had 2 Pro Bowl OT’s, top WR corps, top running game, and a defense 6th in scoring. There really weren’t any weak spots on that team.

by packallday555 on Jan 29, 2010 10:38 AM CST up reply actions

Let's try this again...

I never said Rodgers couldn’t carry the team to the playoffs did I? We were talking about the “window of opportunity” that some of you think you have to win the super bowl. Big difference between super bowl and 1st round of the playoffs.

“2007 SHOULD have been a SB, not COULD have.”

How about 2008? No major changes and you win 7 less games. Oh wait, that’s right….I already heard that excuse. It was because of injuries. Rodgers can do no wrong.

by dsludo on Jan 29, 2010 11:14 AM CST up reply actions

Your argument falls flat on its face though…if our “injuries” argument wasn’t true, the team would have stayed around the same this year…yet oh my we didn’t did we.

Rodgers can do no wrong? Where has anyone talked like that? He’s done plenty of wrong…he’s just not the one to blame for that season. I find it funny that not only do people not like you here becaues your posts are pointless, but they don’t like you in DN either! poor guy.

by TrevorR on Jan 29, 2010 1:46 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, Rodgers still has plenty to learn

He needs to throw the ball away to avoid the sack, take what the defense gives him, master the two minute drill, just to mention a few. No one thinks that Rodgers can do no wrong. Thats just delude-o reaching without any evidence to back up his claim, as usual

The injuries are an excuse? That’s just ridiculous too say. And if they were just an “excuse” then why didn’t we have another 6-10 season this year? Seeing as how we didn’t we had one different starter on defense from this year to last?

Rodgers can do wrong, he just doesn’t do a lot wrong.

I'll agree with on one thing
2007 could have easily been a super bowl.

Here’s the problem. You never base anything you say on fact or even logical argument. I saw your below post already and its complete dream BS. I can understand that you are really bitter and pissed that the Packers now have their THIRD QB that is better than any QB to wear a Viking uni for more than 3 years but you have to stop making arguments that make no sense at all, it makes you come across as a complete idiot.

SO…here’s the deal. I have no problem with you coming here…but bring something that has some nails to it, not just troll drivel that is put out there to make the pain from your embarrassing loss last week feel less.

I know this isn’t necessarily the place to do this but I’ve been dying to ask you about something. I know like me, you live in MN. I’m also pretty sure I’ve seen you say on this blog that you listen to KFAN from time to time. I haven’t listened to it in maybe 2 months or so, but am very interested when thinking about how PA dealt with the loss and his thoughts on the game.

by packallday555 on Jan 28, 2010 2:39 PM CST up reply actions

He’s been going through some stages of grief. I don’t listen to PA too often cause honestly while I love him as a play by play guy, he’s obnoxious as a fan and as a radio guy. He’s like the ringleader of the obnoxious viking fans that always respond to a comment with what I’ll call “bullying”

Anyway, the first day he was in denial. Just kept going over all the things that screwed them over (refs, bad calls, etc). Then he had a gripe with Favre and his INT…he was on that for a while. I haven’t listened to his show since Tuesday though…I just can’t put up with it for too long. I literally shut off the radio for JUST his show!

Yeah, I hear ya. It used to may me want to throw up when I’d hear him say, “Ya know, I honestly don’t think the Saints can beat us.” (and this was while the Saints looked untouchable). He kind of is the definition of a homer.
