obnoxious Vikings fans
This is hardly the first posting here on the topic, but I wanted to provide a couple of personal stories to further move the statement "Vikings fans are obnoxious jerks" from the column marked OPINION to the one titled FACT.
I was in a bar at MSP airport circa 1999. A guy sitting at a table full of Vikings fans (based on their garb) asked me where I was from, and I said Green Bay. The guys at the table all start clapping, and one says "How about those Broncos!" The Packers Super Bowl loss was well over a year in the past at that point, but I simply replied "How about those Falcons?" Suddenly their frat-boy smiles disappeared, and were replaced by expressions which appeared akin to one which might follow being told by your girlfriend she's leaving you....for another girl. These guys seemed content with hurling stones, while never once bothering to notice they lived in a glass house. Had they FORGOTTEN that their heavily-favored Vikings had choked away a Super Bowl berth just a couple months earlier?
Fast forward to November 1st, 2009. I'm in a sports bar in San Diego, where I now live, watching the Packers get their butts beaten by the Vikings. At halftime a heavy-set gentleman sees my Packers hat and says to me "You're about the only Packer fan in here." Before I could even respond, he continues, "I'm a big Vikings fan!" I resisted the immediate urge to say something snarky like "I can see that you're BIG, good sir", or "So much so that you're not wearing a single thing with their logo?" Instead I attempted to take the high road, and replied with "Well, I won't hold that against you." Apparently not even hearing me, he says "Yeah? Look at the score!" Despite the Vikings defeating the Pack that day, I found it to be an odd thing to say. After all, isn't the score 3-0 in favor of the Packers? Or you do suppose he wasn't referring to the "score" of Super Bowl victories in franchise history????
If you have a Facebook account and wish to rub a little more salt into the wounds of Vikings Nation, please consider joining the group I recently created with the above two situations (and many more) in mind.

Look no further than the ringleader
Paul Allen
On Monday, after the big loss to the Saints, a caller from Buffalo called in to offer his sympathy citing that he knows the feeling to lose in such a crushing manner. Rather than thanking him for his sympathy or sharing a story that they both could laugh at, Paul replays the entire account of the game and then mocks his team for losing to a team being lead by a backup QB. I mean what the hell man…THIS I believe is why there is such a large amount of fans like this. Their idol fan is PA and that is how he is!
Now all of this said, every team has some of THESE fans so you can’t totally hold this against the Vikings but I honestly think the concentration seems to be higher with this team for some reason.
You can't compare people to Paul Allen, that guy is an obnoxious prick
I hope someone tricks him into sticking his dick into a toaster by placing a picture of Brett Favre on the front of it.

Meh it's just a packer/vike thing
Seriously, most fan bases are pretty easy with exceptions being Dallas, Philly maybe a couple of others. We all have bad apples for instance when a girl in a GB jersey walked past my table and spit in my beer on her way to the bath room at BW’s never even saw her coming, but I don’t think that every packer fan is a complete douche.
However, I think the rivalry we have between us is usually in good fun.
Let the reaming begin!
Haha wow, that really happened? I’ve taken some dirty looks from some Vikings fans when wearing my Packer apparel around here in MN but not ever anything that bad! I would agree that our rivalry is generally in good fun as well, or at least that’s how it is for me with most of the Vikings fans I know.

Goodness, that's terrible.
You sure she wasn’t a Patriots fan in a Packers jersey?
I’ve had stuff thrown in my direction at a Cubs/Cardinals MLB game. Not sure if that was an alcohol issue or the Cardinals fans being sore losers.
Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.
Go Pack!

We're not that bad
Hey, some of my best friends are Packer fans. For us, it’s all good natured ribbing. I love the Vikes, always have and always will, but for me, it’s all in good fun. I’ve had to wear Packer hats at work, or my Packer friends have had to wear Favre jerseys (Vikings edition) for bets.
I mean, at the end of the day, it’s a freaking game. There’s douchebags on both sides of the fence, but over 90% of my experiences haven’t risen above good natured ribbing.
