Sunday Late Games - Open Thread
It didn't look like a great slate of games this morning, but this afternoon is not any better with only three games in the afternoon. The NFL was probably hoping the Patriots at Chargers would be a playoff preview, but the Chargers losing record is cooperating so far. The Cardinals at Seahawks doesn't sound appealing, but it could actually decide which team makes the playoffs this year (the NFC West does get an automatic bid after all).

Pardon my language
but Fuck CBS. Ditching the OT game for commercials and the garbage game nobody cares about.
When I get bubbly I do it in moderation,
1 brew, 1 brew, I said 1 brew at a time
Sadly, it's not CBS' call
NFL television rules dictates they have to do that unless you were an original audience for the OT game.
But why?
If you’re not in the home market for the next game, then why can’t CBS make the call?
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
Why?
I don’t know, it defies logic. However, usually the later game is a marquee matchup so it might be the case of the NFL wanting to show off their best game
I always thought the NFL was smarter than MLB
Well, they almost have to be, if only by not being MLB, but that’s just plain dumb.
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
They're smarter by luck only
Remember, they are the league that pays people to hit other players as hard as they can and then fines them afterwards for doing a good job.
Yea couldn't find the Giants Phili game last night
I some how have a feeling if it wre the Yankees they would be on every channel
The Bills Ravens game is on ATDHE.net
Ravens are punting…

Another TD Raiders
Early 14-0 lead on the My Little Ponies
And why the hell does my local Fox station only show a 3:00 game when the home team is playing in it?

It depends on who has what game that day
If you’ve never been to the506.com, they explain why certain markets get certain games (well, in the comments, because people ask).
http://the506.com/sports/?p=458
Essentially, this weekend CBS has the double header and Fox has the single game. Therefore, you get only the late game on Fox since Fox is only allowed to show one game this week. Again, stupid NFL rules.
Just be glad they sold out. If they hadn’t, you’d not had a single game on Fox this weekend.
Thanks for the link
I’ll have to check it out when I’m less hungover

Nice hit by the Patriots to force the fumble
I need Brady to light up the board, for fantasy purposes…
Weird...
last “final four” teams in the NFC playoffs last year (Minny, Saints, Dallas, Arizona) all have losing records. And the other two playoff teams (philly and GB) aren’t doing to great either.
Never seen this much turnover from one year to the next.
Nice sunny day in San Diego...
going to be the opposite tonight in Green Bay
Yeah
I thought they were 3-4…they are playing like 1-5!
By the way, Belichik called an empty backfield, 5 wide inside the 10. So McCarthy isn’t the only one that does it
But it worked when he did it
Must be nice to have an O-Line…

Man, Denver really, really sucks! The Raiders r killing them. I can’t stand McDaniells. Just looking at him pisses me off.

Speaking of offensive line...
do you think Clifton will rise to the occasion against Jared Allen…and Bulaga v. Edwards?
I'm also worried
about Colledge vs the Williams boys
Those Williams boys need to be suspended! Freaking cheaters!

But I’m doing my part, eating bratwurst and drinking lots of beer.

I was going to start drinking, because these games r all so awful. I want to have that nice fresh drunk when the game starts tonight, so I am drinking coke. Man, life seems so boring right now…

I figure I'll be up to ordering a beer just in time for kickoff

That should work. Keep up the rehab (drinking lots of water, alka seltzer, etc) and see if you can’t get that moved up to pregame. A beer at kickoff is cutting it awfully close…

One of the fun things around here
Is the “tall” option for beers – it varies by bar, but the talls are anywhere from 24-32 oz. It’s nice to be able to tell the GF “But I only had 4 beers!”
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
Damn! 32 oz! That’s awesome! That vaguely reminds me of my trip to New Orleans. Can’t be sure, was pretty drunk.

My New Orleans ritual
Is to go to Pat O’Brien’s for one hurricane and then run like hell away from Bourbon St. I’ll bar-hop until I get to the Hideout on Decatur and then stay there.

All of this talk about drinking is seriously testing my resolve to stay sober until pregame! I think I’ll try and take a nap or something…

It's pregame somewhere?
"Who ever heard of the Cubs losing a game they had to have?" -Frank Chance
"If [Ruth] had [called his shot], I would have knocked him down with the next pitch." -Charlie Root
I mean, it's pre-game, before the game
As far as I’m concerned, pregame starts at 12:00 am Sunday morning.
Rookie SD wide reciever...
first ever catch, thinks he’s playing college rules (wide receiver down with knee), lays the ball down after catch, celebrates, New England recovers the ball.
What’s weird is a New England player hurdled him instead of touching him down.

Oakland is almost in the red zone again
There will be mutiny in Denver if they’re down by 31 to end the first quarter
Nope
End of the first but Oakland has 1st and goal at the 9
But they get it eventually, 31-0
I might sneak over to MHR…
Oh yeah, some good ones
I want to choke every single person on this team
O, D, ST, Coaches, and even Bowlen for not doing it for me
hahaha
stage 1: shock
stage 2: awe
stage 3: embarrassment
stage 4: Laughter
stage 5: drunk
I’m on 4.
And the SD game gets weirder
Rivers throws what is ruled a lateral, players standing around until NE finally picks it up and runs it almost back for a TD
I blame it all

First and goal from the 8 for NE
At this rate
The NFL could go on strike next year and replace it with the UFL and nobody would know the difference

And INT for Rivers
SD is looking awful this game, so par for the course
Rivers INT
4 turnovers in less than 11 minutes. I think this game wore hockey equipment to school, even though it wasn’t on the team.

about losing to the Redskins and Dolphins with so many injuries. Dolphins should have beat the Steelers today.
But next time, we better GO FOR TWO. No more overtime, no more relying on Mase crosby
Leroy Butler made a great point for the Journal Sent
It’s our veteran guys Driver with his droops, Woodson with his penalties (he has more penalties through 6 games than he had all last year!), Rodgers, Tauscher, Clifton who are screwing up. It’s not really the young guys that are killing us.
INteresting.
I had to remind a couple of Niners fans
About their pre-season $100 bets that SF would win the NFC West this year. I was really tempted to take that action, but I chickened out. Now I feel dumb for not being drunker and going for it.
