Morgan Burnett Injures His Knee Against The Lions

The worst injury on Sunday was the knee injury to rookie SS Morgan Burnett. From Mike McCarthy:

Morgan has a knee sprain. We’re going to go through a normal process; we’re going to have to do some more testing...

Nick Barnett had the wrist sprain and he did return.

Right now, I'm worried about Burnett. We'll have to see what we read about him this week. If it does become a problem, S Derrick Martin replaced him on Sunday, and he would be his likely replacement until SS Atari Bigby returns in a couple weeks.

It doesn't seem like the injured wrist will be a problem for Barnett.

OUCH.

The Burnett injury really hurts. Hopefully, Derrick Martin gets it a little better and can fill in.

Jarrett? Is that you?

Well, I don’t think Martin’s all that terrible. Bring Burnett back asap, of course, but I don’t notice a big drop-off when Martin’s in there. He doesn’t have the same nose for the football, but he seems to be fairly solid.

In fact, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… Jarrett Bush didn’t suck yesterday. He wasn’t good, mind you. But, being the world’s most vocal Bush critic over the years, it’s only fair that I admit, he did not suck. Granted, I was kinda’ drowsy, so maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any of those “who are you covering, son?” plays from him like we usually get. I didn’t see any TD catches as he trails harmlessly five yards behind the receiver, like usual. No hapless “this guy’s close to me, so I might as well touch him” pass interference penalties, like usual. It was like invasion of the body snatchers. “What are you, and what have you done with Jarrett Bush?!”

What I heard was...

it was the safety’s responsibility (Burnett) to close in on that play. But he was late getting over and CJ had an easy six. Don’t think that one was on Bush.

Other than that, didn’t hear his name called much for good or ill, except when he bobbled that potential interception.

no it doesn't---

Because if the Packers played anyone else but Detroit on Sunday—It would have been an embarrasing defeat—-Any other team would have picked the Packers “D” to death !! They better get it together before the :tough" part of the schedule..all I can say !!

Doesn’t matter who they play. Outside of Woodson and Collins they’re all C- players. The Packer’s pass D again made a marginal quarterback look like Peyton Manning.

I also think...

some exceptional skill position talent at Detroit makes a marginal QB look good.

But you can’t forget our D was out there approaching 40 minutes. That’s a lot of time. Our offense had what, three three and outs and one “One and out”! Offense didn’t help the Defense out.

If our offense was all systems, the D would have had 10 fewer minutes out there on the field.

Tramon Williams is not a C- player. Of the starters, only SS and Nickle are below average
