Sunday Morning Open Thread

I'm tempted to call this open thread: Vikings at Bears. I expect that's what we'll discuss. Since they both can't lose, I'm decidedly neutral about this game. Though it will be interesting to see if the Vikings will have any healthy receivers. WR Sidney Rice is still out, while Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian are both questionable. Good thing they released WR Randy Moss.

The rest of the morning slate is bleh, though the media has done it's best to make the Jets/Browns press conferences interesting. It might be fun to watch CB Al Harris play for the Dolphins (against Moss and the Titans no less). I do expect the Bills to win their first game of the year. After watching the Lions pull defeat from the jaws of victory last week, I expect they'll will find a way to lose against a winless team.

What's Brett Favre's overall record at Soldier's Field?

Somehow, I think he’s 50/50. Argument among friends and I – I think I’ve only ever seen him choke, myself, but everyone else thinks I’m off my nut.

I think he's better than that.

He struggled against Lovie’s teams but before that GB was pretty dominant in Chicago, if memory serves.

I think you're probably right

Considering one of the main factors in Lovie’s hiring was “so we stop losing to the Packers”

No, 50/50 is not right. He’s lost a few lately, but over the years, he’s done pretty well in Chicago.

I watched Texas A&M get 3 TDs called back last night

In the same drive. Mike Sherman didn’t cry about that half as much as Vikings’ fans cried about a single overturned TD call.

No other team in the leagues gets to play all of those teams.
The only legitimate team the have beat is the Packers; their schedule gets much tougher the rest of the way.

The Fins played an entire drive in the Wildcat after losing their first two QBs only for Thigpen (their third) to later come on and throw a beaty for TD, the jets are already in OT, the Bengals have just grabbed the ball after an onside kick for the final drive, Jaguars are tying but heading for the line. Idk.

The Bears are good. Not top tier, but their defense can keep them in games and if the offense clicks they can win. But if the offense is not clicking, they look very beatable.

Well, they won this game.

Only problem is, the refs screwed them out of the win … like all their other losses this year. In fact, if the refs were good, the Vikings would be undefeated.

I didn't believe it last August, but it turns out that love survives.

WOW.

Last play of the game in Jacksonville, the Jaguars hurl a 50-yard touchdown pass and beat Houston 31-24.

Knock It Down! Fail

Exactly

They have a tough schedule from here but so do we. We HAVE to beat them next time.

More to the point

they had an easier schedule thus far;
only team in the league to play the Lions, cowboys, Bills and Panthers (combined 4-28), and they already got all four of those teams behind them (with one left vs. Detroit).

For the Division

In Green Bay. In the Cold. On mostly frozen grass. Hopefully in Snow.

The way Football was MEANT to be played. None of those wussy domes.

If the NFL were a MAN’s league, every Super Bowl would be played north of the Mason Dixon line and NEVER in a dome.

I'm starting to get a bit worried

they seem to have that mojo from their superbowl season a few years ago

Their remaining schedule

@MIA, PHI, @DET, NE, @MIN, NYJ, @GB

I see two wins in that run for them, but that’s about it.

Who finishes in third?

Lions or Vikings…they still have to play Detroit at Detroit?

by PackFaninFL on Nov 14, 2010 3:06 PM CST reply actions

Vikings

only if Stafford is shut down for the year… which he should be

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 14, 2010 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

They're trashing on Sidney Rice over at DN

for not getting the surgery early in the off season and costing them games by not playing… wow

I guess it doesn't matter that they lost by 14.

Vikings

can still go 10 and 6 and win the division… right guys?

by Shamalamadingdong on Nov 14, 2010 3:09 PM CST reply actions

It's possible, but not likely.

@ Detroit
@ Philadelphia
vs. NY Giants
@ Washington

Those games are not in the order they are in on the schedule, but still, you get the picture.
