makes no sense

packers team doing everything they can to lose this game..reminds me of the first 6 games of the season not the last 4..inexcusable play calling from the 3 yard line after driving the field by passing the ball and inexcusable by rodgers for not holding onto that ball..and MM going MIA on two challenges after challenging everything else under the sun all year long..a lot of football left we can do this if we dont stop beating ourselves! LETS GO PACK

Let's not doom and gloom

You guys are down one score in an insanely evenly matched game.

And you get the ball to start.

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 1:25 PM CST up reply actions

I got nothing against the Falcons

but I’m going to call it right now that the Falcons lose their first playoff game in the divisional round. They’ve gotten so many breaks all year, it’s bound to catch up with them. This is not a great football team.

53 Bears, 1 Cup

by I voted for Kodos on Nov 28, 2010 1:22 PM CST up reply actions

Oh they're good

thats why they’ll get home field advantage. But teams lucky in the regular have a tendency of losing at home in the divisional round. Think the the 2003 Chiefs or the 2005 Bears.

Not completely true

Toward the end of the year though.

I thought they were a good team in the first half (which doesn’t matter much) and got lucky toward the end. Again I think there is a cycle of luck.

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 1:26 PM CST up reply actions

Come on

Blaming other teams wins on the refs is just as bad as blaming our losses on refs… You still have to play the game, and you still have to take advantage of the ref miscues.

You don’t get to 8-2 without being good

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 1:22 PM CST up reply actions

To be fair...

I don’t really think he is saying that the refs are the cause. Just saying they are getting breaks. Semantics, I know, but there is some difference.

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 1:23 PM CST up reply actions

Yep he's saying that all the luck has gone their way

And that luck usually goes in cycles. Hopefully theirs runs out by the end of the season. Luck involves more than just the refs. Look at the lucky bounce they got on the Rodgers fumble.

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 1:26 PM CST up reply actions

just happened to bounce back into the end zone?

Their effort

knocked the ball loose, and caused it to move around, and lead to them recovering it

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 1:28 PM CST up reply actions

and they’ve also gotten alot of breaks, not just in this game, but throughout the year.

That play was well called by the refs

As we learned from Michigan St.-Notre Dame, after the play clock runs out, you’ve got to look back to the ball, see that it’s not snapped, and then call delay of game if it hasn’t. Not enough time for that to happen in that case.

I disagree.

We couldn’t stop Turner when we needed to. That goal line stand should’ve been huge, and we blew it on fourth down. You can’t point at one particular thing and say well if this went differently, we could’ve won like with the 4th and 26 game (which we lost more for Favre’s lame duck in OT that everyone CONVENIENTLY FORGETS ABOUT).

I can honestly say that the AFC is going to win the superbowl. Green Bay cannot run the ball and they still almost pulled that off on Atlanta’s weak defense. And what about Matt Ryan’s epic drive from his 50 yard line that led to a game winning field goal. ( ( ( end sarcasm ) ) )

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 3:10 PM CST up reply actions

The goal line fumble took a minimal of 3 points off the board

the 4th and goal conversion by Altanta hurt, the 4th down conversion earlier in the drive hurt… the lack of a running game hurt… you can’t blame this on ST alone

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 3:10 PM CST up reply actions

There have been bad ST gaffes in every loss

but there’s also been poor execution in other aspects of the game… Miami had the lining up over center on the punt… but our O was absent that game… Chicago had 18 penalties in all 3 aspects… Yes ST is not our strong suit… but you can’t single handedly pin any loss on just them

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 3:08 PM CST up reply actions

Look, once again

I’ll say it. The Falcons are very good, but their record is a little inflated from all the breaks they’ve gotten this year. The circumstances are pretty close to our 2007 season. We were good, but we probably weren’t 13-3 good.

In every game where we had gotten a ‘break’, the opponent also had a few breaks. The only one that sticks out tremendously is against the 9ers. We should have beaten Baltimore by 14, the Saints by 10, and Tampa by like 30.

Luck is something you create by hard work and good play… The only real break was the goal line fumble… that was casued by their hustle

They got a couple of breaks this game, which helped them out a little. I’m not overly concerned or anything about the loss. If Rodgers doesn’t fumble that, I think we probably win but who knows. Either way, we know we can play with them, and really anybody in the NFC.

I just don’t think luck correlates to being good. It is circular in a sense. Good teams tend to be lucky while at the same time lucky teams tend to be good (de facto).

Coaching

Teams that are well-coached get the “breaks” because they don’t make those mistakes that cost teams games.

Atlanta's good

and they’ll win home field advantage. Just wait until they get to the playoffs and they face a team that’s even with them. Are the Falcons head and shoulders above the Eagles, Giants, Bears or Packers? No, they’re not.

All I’m saying, is just wait until the playoffs.

Hey Pack!

That was a great game, could have gone either way. We all knew Rodgers was something special. That unfortunately for you guys was negated by the only big return we’ve gotten all season.

Bad calls went both ways. Just evenly matched teams. Hopefully we’ll get a rematch.

Good game Falcons!

Hopefully we’ll see you again this year. Good win. That Turner/Gonzo/White combo is a damn good one.

I’d rather lose this game than the one in the playoffs I assume. Now LETS GO EAGLES!

by NoahZ on Nov 28, 2010 3:09 PM CST reply actions

I'm legitimately worried

about making the playoffs. Not saying the Packers aren’t deserving but we are looking at the Bears with a chance to put a 1.5 game lead on us, the Bucs and the Saints are both 7-3 right now, and the Giants have shown the are capable of putting together a winning streak.

by msc32887 on Nov 28, 2010 3:13 PM CST up reply actions

The Bears may lose today.

And we still have an opportunity to beat them later on in the season.

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 3:14 PM CST up reply actions

No worries about the Bears

unless they play a bunch of teams that are are on their 3rd string QB, and missing their top O-lineman… and lose their #1 pro-bowl receiver in the first possession

packer fan stuck in mn

i was at a bar in st cloud watching the game surrounded by viking fans who cheered as the pack lost, although shutup a bit when i informed them at 4-7 theyre done, who had the facemask on the last reutrn?

by tutts3131 on Nov 28, 2010 3:14 PM CST reply actions

It was Matt WIlhelm

we take care of business we will be favored in all of our games remaining except new england…IF and i stress IF we can win the games were supposed to it should be a non factor

Who was the linebacker that got called for the facemask at the end? That man saved a TD.

by NoahZ on Nov 28, 2010 3:16 PM CST reply actions

Should've let him score

and tried our hand again on offense.

Only partially kidding.

Special teams wasn't just bad on that ATL kick return

our blocking on kickoffs was terrible. We constantly started inside the 20

I'm surprised at how unworried I am at this game

Here’s why:

1) There are no elite teams in the NFL this year. The Falcons are the class of the NFC, and the Packers just hung with them in Atlanta.

2) All four of the Packers’ losses have now come on last-second FGs. We are the only team in the NFL that hasn’t been beaten decisively by anyone.

3) Aaron Rodgers is the real deal. Even in two-minute-drill time. He’s a stud. One of these times, the defense/ST won’t blow it for him.

4) If home-field advantage goes to Atlanta, that’s about the least intimidating place to play out of any of the top NFC teams.

Yes. Exactly. I DO think we need to win decisively the next two weeks to get our swagger back. 49ers will be on a short week and the Lions are still the Lions.

On #2

Good teams close out tight games. We cannot do that consistently, at least we have not done so up to this point.

by Danwood on Nov 28, 2010 3:32 PM CST up reply actions

Would you rather lose close or get blown out?

Because everyone’s lost a few so far. I agree that good teams close games out, but I’d much rather be the loser of four close games than four blowouts.

by Cheeseandcorn on Nov 28, 2010 3:36 PM CST up reply actions

Blown out

I’d like to be definitively the worse team than the team that can’t figure out how to get over the hump.

by Danwood on Nov 28, 2010 5:31 PM CST up reply actions

Close games teach you a lesson

IN a blowout, you can just say that we had an all around bad day and blah blah blah and not really learn anything.

You lose a heart-breaker in the final seconds, and people will look at be more critical of their mistakes and hopefully not make the same one again

I think we have taken things away from each loss

I also think we got a little big headed going into this game and this might knock us down a peg that we needed

They are going to get dominated. How are they 7-3? God they suck.

by Bush League All Star on Nov 28, 2010 3:22 PM CST reply actions

Don't speak too soon

Their defense is going to come up with some huge plays before this game is over.

by Cheeseandcorn on Nov 28, 2010 3:24 PM CST up reply actions

Meh!

I don’t think so. They have played only 1 team with a winning record. This is their test, and they will fail miserably. :)

Soccer analogy warning for all non-soccer fans

Playing great is only great if you’re consistent/mistake-free. You can “joga bonita” all day and score a couple “golazos” but three mistakes is likely to give you that 3-2 loss, and that’s been part of the Packers’ problem.

Wouldn't that be awesome?

At Lambeau Field, in the cold, with a quarterback who can actually handle it.

by Cheeseandcorn on Nov 28, 2010 3:27 PM CST up reply actions

I hate saying this

but I honestly think Lambeau hurts us more then helps us w/ a complete absence of a running game

random question

that personal foul for the stiff arm..i kno it ended up not mattering but did anyone else understand that call? is there a rule now? or was it just a bad call

by packers34 on Nov 28, 2010 3:30 PM CST reply actions

He facemasked him

It was a really weak call and RBs/returners usually get away w/ that.. but it’s technically a penalty… but very very weak

by Goldenarmadillo4 on Nov 28, 2010 3:31 PM CST up reply actions

oh

i didnt see a facemask really haha..i know it doesnt matter now but i just saw the same play in the bears game go uncalled

by packers34 on Nov 28, 2010 3:33 PM CST up reply actions

And it did kind of matter

It was the difference between the Packers having to go for it on fourth down and being in FG range.

by Cheeseandcorn on Nov 28, 2010 3:37 PM CST up reply actions

kinda

it was at the beginning of the drive so u cant look at the hindsight of the matter plus we scored on that drive no??..i was just curious about the call
