Packers Injuries: Jennings To Miss Practice

Photo

Mike McCarthy announced that WR Greg Jennings has a foot injury. From Packers.com:

OK, I’ll start with the injuries. Brandon Chillar re-injured his shoulder. He will be out this week. Spencer Havner had a hamstring strain. He will also be out this week. Dimitri Nance suffered a concussion. He will go through the normal process there throughout the week. Greg Jennings had a foot strain. I anticipate he will miss some practice time. And Patrick Lee had an ankle sprain. He will be challenged to be back this week. With that I’ll take your questions.

At this point, it's too early to tell whether Jennings will miss next week. Not even the Packers know for sure. But my best guess is that he won't miss a game. Nance and Lee could return, but the absence of either won't make much of a difference.

nance

The nance concussion may finally let us see our first glimpse of james starks. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m anxious to see what he’s got. Its worth a shot, certaintly couldn’t hurt at this point.

Nance is better on 1st and 2nd down

then what we’re putting out there right now… I’d like to see some more of him before we completely write him off

How can you be lost on Nance?

We’ve barely seen the guy. Or is that the problem in your opinion?

I’m thinking the exact same thing. The only time we ever see him is in heavy run package formations. It’d be nice to see him take a handoff out of a singleback formation or a draw out of the shotgun. It’s kind of hard for him to really impress us when teams are playing us like we’re going too run. Though, I should say, he did impress me on that 3rd and 1 run against the Vikings where he knocked Henderson back a couple of yards to pick up the 1st down. I’d bet every dollar to my name that both Jackson and Grant wouldn’t have picked that up. Both have such little power when they run.

im not writing him off...

its just no one is really producing at this point, so maybe some fresher legs will get something sparked

I'd like to see Starks get the ball

but equally important is the o-line getting some better blocks. I don’t see it actually happening, but what about getting T.J. Lang some playing time? I thought Rodgers made a great audible to the QB sneak (on the first one) because Atlanta only had three guys right on the line. Yet the center and LG still couldn’t get it done. That’s just terrible.

But hopefully we see Starks and hopefully he gives us reason to move BJax back to the 3rd down spot where he is more effective.

And I think it’s too early to write off Nance (unless concussions are tax deductible under IRS guidelines).

Yeah, could you believe that? Abraham blasted through like 3 of our guys to pop Rodgers pretty good. I was seriously freaking out haha!

If he’s ready to be out there (sure of blocking assignments and fully recovered from injury) I am with you!! Lets see what this kid can do!

I like Quinn Jr, but wouldn't mind seeing a little Starks next week.

Nance has shown some explosiveness on the few carries he has gotten, and he fights for every yard, kind of like a faster Kuhn. But since he has a concussion, I say rest him and see what Starks can do this week. We’re going into December now, so we need to get more production in our run game.

I agree with giving TJ Lang some more playing time too. Last year he showed that he can get a push in the run game. Something that College rarely gets done. So I would like to see a little bit of TJ and see if our run game improves.
