Even tonight you got some bad news - Al Harris to be released

Even on a night the Packers manhandle the Cowgirls, we still have to hear some unfortunate news. Multiple sources reported that Al Harris said he will be released, not activated, on Monday. Apparently Al did not recover well enough from the knee injury he suffered exactly 12 months ago, and the Packers feel he can't contribute any more. After 7.5 seasons with the Packers, this seems to be it.

I'd hate it if the Viqueens claimed him, but I wish #31 to succeed going forward.

Wow

This is going to end up being a bigger deal than it’s being made out to be right now. No one is talking about it, but Al Harris is pissed and will likely sign with a division rival, namely Minnesota.

Great!? I’m pleased with Sam Shields, but would prefer Al Harris to Brandon Underwood at the dime ANY day.

Overall, pretty disappointed in this move. Hope Ted knows something we don’t.

Now we wait to see what happens with Starks.

I’m really, really hoping he finds a way onto the roster or practice squad. Anyone know where he is eligible to go? PUP, IR, Practice Squad…

To go on the PS

He would have to pass through waivers first, and I think there’s little chance of that happening.

We still have not heard anything, I'm expecting to be disappointed.

It’s really Starks vs. Nance. Nance got some playing time Sunday night, so he appears to have a big edge.

he got PT because the team was up by 35 pts and all the starters and important players were put on the bench. Someone had to run the ball. He ended up like 5 rushes for 6 yards or something so its not like he blew the doors off.

Nance or Starks

Nance has been on the team for 5-6 weeks, and he hasn’t done anything. The most he’s been trusted to do is act as a decoy, being split like WR to bring in a LB while the pass goes in the hole left open. When he got a chance to run against Dallas, he didn’t impress. It certainly wasn’t all his fault, with a 2nd team line and Dallas knowing we were running. But he still didn’t impress.

Starks could sit on the bench as well as Nance, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is activated. Nance would likely clear waivers, and get on the practice squad.

At this point in the year

I don’t think anyone is safe to pass through waver wires, I doubt either would.

There’s no way he’s dropped. TT would never let one of his young promising draft picks go this quickly. There is also NO way he makes it through waivers to the practice squad.

See, I think Ted will cut him.

Because all you hear from reporters or the team is “He hasn’t played football for 2 years, and looks like it”

He drafted the guy knowing about his injury history though, he’s a 2/3 round talent in the 6th…no way TT just lets that go. Especially not for someone like Nance who’s given us NOTHING.

I agree

the only possible way we keep both it so push Starks onto IR and let Nance play out the rest of the season and see what he can do

The PUP list only covers the first 6 weeks of the season. He cannot go back on for 6 more weeks. He must be placed on IR, placed on the roster, or cut. If he is cut and clears waivers he can be signed to the Practice Squad since he has not been active for the maximum amount of games. (6 or 7 I think).

It was either put him on the IR and pay his contract or let him go. Hate to see Harris leave but Williams, Shields, and Bush are all looking to be solid for us.

To bad injuries happen

Starks could be the next AP for all we know?
Al Harris was a victim of circumstance, and I would hate to see him go to the dark side (aka; the Queens) I hope TT knows what he’s doing. So far Dom Capers has polished a few stones.
