Mega Monday Night Open Thread: Vikings, Giants, Ravens, Texans

It's odd to watch the Vikings play the spoiler and indirectly help the Green Bay Packers bid for the playoffs by beating the Giants. If you're in a market that normally shows the Giants or Vikings, it's probably on your Fox station, and it's on Sunday Ticket. It might be a good game to hit the mute button as the announcers are likely to gush about the end of the streak.

The Ravens/Texans matchup should be a good game, so that's one to watch if the Vikings/Giants game is unavailable.

The best way to describe Brett Favre football is… He’ll keep BOTH teams in it til the end

The end of Favre's streak

I’m going to throw a conspiracy theory out there: The NFL has made (and will continue to make) lots of money off the legacy of Brett Favre, and they have done a lot to build him up as an icon over the years. It is in their interests for him to be remembered as an Iron Man, not an Iron Dick, and if he sits out a game and ends the streak that way, maybe he won’t be forever linked to the incident – or at least not in such a way that guilt is ever admitted. So, the NFL tells Favre to sit a game or two or risk his streak coming to an ignominious ending, and he complys. It seems like a long shot to me, but I don’t think it’s impossible.

Our chance of winning the division currently sits at a little less than 25%

The crap part is that the Bears will be facing the Vikings (most likely at home) and the clueless Jets before coming up to meet us. I think we have to assume that they’ll win the division, as painful as that may be.

They're better at home

Where two of their last three will be played. Of course, I don’t see them beating the Falcons or the Bucs, but they should be able to handle STL in Week 17. That would give them the 7-9 needed to win the West, and give them a tiebreaker over the Rams, who I also project finishing at 7-9.

Of course, I don’t see much of a way for us to finish in the 1st wild card spot anyway, so it’s probably moot. We may get to play Chicago twice in a row – once in GB and then the next week in the playoffs in Chi…

There were doosies back then.

Even with a backup QB we should win that by 14. Also, Strohman, where the fuck was Starks yesterday? I love me some Ted Thompson but I mean for Christ sake, we havent had a legit Rb since week 1. Whoever had this illusion that a 6th round pick that hasn’t seen live action since 2008 was going to somehow turn into a starter overnight needs to be belted in the head with a lead pipe. No way this team does jack shit in the playoffs if for some reason we make it there.

Tell that to

Peyton Hillis and Arian Foster to name a few. That is not a good excuse, we don’t have a single talented running back on the team minus Ryan Grant. The Packers obviously have a great future but we could also be doing great things right now. Another gripe from me, Aaron Rodgers needs to learn how to slide or he is going to have the shelf life of a loaf of bread. Your eggs can only be scrambled so much before you turn into Muhammad Ali. Moobs needs to coach a little better if he likes being employed.

Peyton Hillis

has Joe Thomas and Eric Steinbach blocking for him. His OL is HARDLY terrible.

Arian Foster has a pretty good offensive line, but none of those players are household names.

No, we don't have a good running back.

And I am NOT in favor of drafting Mark Ingram, after the season he had. I need to see better consistency out of him; he was consistently middling all season and looked as shaky as 2008 P.J. Hill.
