Who Should The Packers Mock Draft?
It's been up since Tuesday, but here's the latest and greatest mock draft from Dan at Mocking The Draft. I have to admit I wasn't all that excited to see he chose USC T Charles Brown in the 1st round, and Georgia S Reshad Jones in the 2nd.
I would rather see someone like Florida State CB Patrick Robinson or Boise State CB Kyle Wilson in the 1st round, and LSU OT Ciron Black in the 2nd round. Just to keep your Seminole DBs straight, Robinson is a CB who played last year and S Myron Rolle is the DB who took a year off studying as a Rhodes scholar.

I'd love to see the Pack take a CB in the 1st round.
It’s such a talented class of secondary this year, but I fear they wont be left in the 2nd round.

CB
It is a fairly deep draft for CB, but IMO, that talent is almost all 2nd and 3rd rd talent! Other than Haden and Wilson I would not draft any CB in the 1st!
I also think OT and OLB are much higher priorities than CB! OLB has a MUCH greater benefit to CB than a CB does for an OLB! So OLB should be considered a higher priority…
The same is said for OT's after Buluga
So I think that goes to show we must trade out of the 1st Round and get more 2nd and 3rd Rd picks.

draft
i would like to see the pack get an OT or OLB with our first pick. skill positions are nice to have but football games——imo——are won and lost in the trenches. i would take either bulaga, sergio kindle or brandon graham—-in that order.
pick your cb or safety in the 2nd and if mccluskey or mcknight are their in the 3rd, consider them.
Agreed. There is so much depth at Cb this year, and aside from Haden, there are no other 1st round talents. I would love to pick Buluga, he could end up being a dominant LT for years. I don’t know much about Kindle and haven’t really bothered to look him up just because I’ve seen him going in the top 15 in most mocks. Graham would be an interesting pick but I would almost prefer Hughes (TCU) or Sapp (Clemson) because they bring that great athletic ability that 3-4 OLBs need. If all of those guys go before we’re up (which is doubtful) I would love to see us go after Eric Norwood (South Carolina). Every time I watched the guy he was getting after the Qb and getting sacks. He’s projects to be prototypical 3-4 OLB, and is being projected to go in the 3rd or 4th round. Could be a nice late round pick.
I really hope we can pick up McKnight or McCluster. Getting either one of them would add a new dimension to our offense that we’re missing.

I want Nothing to do w/ McCluster!!! Way to small for my tastes… Mcknight would be a beter pick and could be gotten a rd or so later…
I wouldn’t mind taking McKnight at all. I’d probably actually prefer him over McCluster.

web site
for you stat geeks out there.
www.profootballfocus.com———this website breaks down every player and position in the nfl.
they have a formula and rank every player at their position in that played season. it might surprise some of you people where all these players ranked last season for example——-
johnny jolly was ranked the 34th best DE in the 3-4 this year and corey williams, yes that corey williams, was ranked 4th.
it’s an interesting website with lots of information.
im not so sure
im not really going to trust a site that has brandon jackson at 18 and ryan grant at 30

I participated in a mock a few weeks ago on Mocking the Draft
Here were the Highlights:
1st- Traded up to 19 to pick up Bruce Campbell from Maryland. I was a huge fan of his work in the Evil Dead series, and feel he can keep A-Rog more upright than the others
2nd/3rd- Traded down b/c I thought Pat Robinson would fall. He didn’t, ended up with Travard Linley from Kentucky at the top of the 3rd. He’s a tall athletic CB who could use some seasoning, but a very athletic prospect
Later in the 3rd, I was able to get Jermaine Cunningham from Florida. He is an undersized DE who is very productive and I believe could move to the strong side OLB position very well. He’s competent against the run, and a very skilled pass rusher. He was more productive than Brandon Spikes at Florida who will be a top 15 talent.
5th- S Larry Asante from Nebraska fell and I was able to snatch him up. With the probable departures of either Bigby or Collins, Asante has the talent to step right in and be a productive part of the pass defense
7th- Donald Butler was available, an ILB from Washington. He was a standout in the LB corps at the senior bowl, and would be able to step in when the packers finally get sick of Hawk and let him walk.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
If Bruce Campbell fell that far, I’d be all for it!!!! However, I don’t think Campbell will fall that far. I don’t think Pat Robinson will fall far from the early 2nd Rd either, but I’ve been wrong before. After all, Oakland drafted Darrius Heyward-Bey in the Top 10 last year. I know I didn’t have him projected that high! LOL.

Who on earth is Charles Brown?

Would you honestly trust Aaron Rodger’s health and safety with this guy starting at tackle?

I like your thinking Brandon
I like the LSU OT Ciron Black pick because he is a true left tackle, and a good one. Not one of the multiple role player types like we have. It would also free up picks or give flexability to trade(1st) for an FA . I follow the school of thought looking at addressing aging CB issues before it gets to be a serious problem.
I did an interesting experiment with myself…… I closed my eyes and imagined our defense without Woodson. Yeah, thats right, we would be screwed. So, I’m thinking spend the high picks on CB’s. Plus it’s a bonus because our ST needs serious improvement. It’s a tough call though because of the pressing need to protect AR while shoring up the secondary so guy’s like Mike Wallace and Early Doucet don’t look like Jerry fricken Rice out there. (Some of that could be Scheme though so I’m up in the air on that too) All in all, there is a saying I have heard………. Expect the worst, hope for the best and take what you get.
Ciron Black
He has some appeal to me in the 2nd round. Similar to the situation with Chad Clifton, who fell into the 2nd round after a great SEC career at Tennessee. Gil Brandt called him “good, but not great” but I’m impressed that he’s started over 50 games at LSU. It’s not like LSU is starved for talent, but Black has been good enough to start from Day 1. The other good thing about starting a lot of games is there’s lots of tape to watch. The Packers will have a better feel for whether Black can pass block in the NFL with so much SEC game film available.
