FA RB: Thomas Jones
Another free agent running back that will soon be on the market. Jones rushed for 1402 yard last season and eventually gave way to rookie sensation Shonn Green. Jones yards we good for 3rd best in the NFL, behind only Chris Johnson and Steven Jackson. With all of the discussion surrounding LT, Westbrook, and Sproles, Jones might just emerge as the biggest fish in the FA RB pool.
We've discussed the possiblility of the Packers reaching out to a FA to help compliment Ryan Grant, Jones could be the best back for the job. What are your thoughts?

Similar to Grant
I think they are pretty much the same back. Jones might be a bit better, but he also had arguably the best O-line blocking for him. Grant is much younger and we need a scat-third down back if anything.
Jones is a lot better
maybe he won’d be this coming year, but I don’t see many similiarities between him and Grant

He’s similar to Grant but definitely better then him. I would be interested in bringing him but he’s pretty old so is it really worth it? I don’t really think so.
On a side not it’s looking more and more like the Cardinals are going to release Antel Rolle. Signing him, even if he wants a big contract would be something could improve our team instantly.
Makes sense on his part
then he wouldn’t have to face Aaron Rodgers again like he said

Hey Pack
Sorry to keep jumping in on your guy’s site, But Rolle has gone public about wanting to be a dolphin, he misses home and I don’t think he wants to play in a cold weathered town like GB. Trust me every team wants him BADLY! Him and the corner that Texas cut.
Makes sense. I don’t think many view GB as an ideal playing place haha.

There's no need in signing a FA RB.
I think T.T. should focus on DBs and the O-line.
They want power. We want respect...
Your probably right. Antrel Rolle is about to hit FA and he would be a great, great addition to our team. Knows the 3-4 system, and more so he is a really good football player. He would want big money but who cares? Bigby just isn’t cutting it back there for us.

I definately think that you're overrating Rolle
He’s a pretty good player but he’s no Leroy Butler. It would also require Nick Collins to switch from free safety to strong safety and I don’t think that’s beneficial for him. Rolle is a free safety only (or a cornerback).

I don’t think so. He is a great player. As far as the positions go, the S positons are virtually interchangable in our scheme. We need an upgrade over Bigby and a rookie likely won’t do that for us unless for some reason Eric Berry dropped to us at 23. All this is probably pointless though because I just read an article in which McCarthy hinted that the team was still committed to Bigby.

I don't have a problem with keeping Bigby in there
I consider him an above-average safety and lest we forget, he’s still relatively inexperienced and improving. I’m not ready to dump him just because he had a few bad games to end the year. If we did sign Rolle I’d be happy but he represents a minor upgrade as opposed to a move that will put us over the top. The most valuable thing aobut Rolle to us is that he plays cornerback too, which to me is a more pressing need at this point.

See I don’t see him as above average. He might be average but not above average. He hits hard which is nice but aside from that nothing stands out. He’s unreliable because he’s always injured and when he’s not out, hes playing injured. Rolle gives us flexibility, a veteran on a young team, and experience.
The thing is he hasn’t even really hit hard since 2007. On top of playing injured a lot, he blows coverages way too much. Maybe if he can get healthy he’d be ok but even then I’d say the chances of him getting injured again are 60% anyway.

I don't see what he brings to the table.
He’s a between the tackles runner like Grant would be so we’d have two guys who do the same thing in the backfield who both think they should be starting. I think this would be a disaster waiting to happen. I’d MUCH rather have his buddy in the backfield, Leon…now THAT is a guy who could change our running game!!!
Rookie Sensation? Ridiculous.
The Jets’ front office (if you can CALL it a front office) is making a huge mistake by letting Jones go. They are proving the 30+ RB rule, not trying to disprove it.
