Brady Quinn Traded to Denver Broncos
I can't say this was a surprise.
Brady Quinn's rough two-year stint in Cleveland ended today, as he has been traded to the Denver Broncos for Peyton Hillis, a draft pick in 2011, and a conditional draft pick in 2012.
Link to an ESPN.com article about the trade.
Quinn's time in Cleveland was tumultuous. In 12 starts for Cleveland, he won just three of those games. He is expected to compete with Kyle Orton for the starting job in Denver.
Thoughts on this trade? Any ideas how things will work out for the Broncos and Browns as a result of this trade?

Bronco fans seem happy
They give up three low draft choices for a young QB. It’s pretty much a no-risk deal. While I liked Quinn coming out of college, he hasn’t looked like an NFL QB, but he wasn’t given any chance in Cleveland either. Well worth the risk for the Broncos, but the Browns might not be losing anything.
So Holmgren won’t come in and fire a head coach. But QBs are fine. Quinn had one request when he was drafted. That he be a Cleveland Brown. So instead of getting the chance to fight for the job with Delhomme and Wallace, looks like he will be Orton’s backup. Pencel in Delhomme as the new Brown’s QB. Won’t be much of a challenge from Seneca Wallace.
I think its a good move...
Its good for Brady, he gets a chance to at least compete for a starting gig for a team who has an average QB at the helm and likely a few nice targets to throw at (likely because of the rumors about Marshall getting traded). Its nice for the Broncos cause they are getting a decent young QB who could flourish under the “qb guru” head coach they supposedly have there. Its good for the Browns because well they at least got SOMETHING for him unlike with Anderson whom they just cut. All around, I think this is a win for everyone.
I agree
It’s still too early to give up on Quinn. He looked good in his rookie season, but the following offseason Mangini cut his favorite target in TE Kellen Winslow, leaving him with nobody except Braylon “can’t catch” Edwards for a while. Quinn was in a bad situation in Cleveland. To his benefit there, he was playing behind a really good and emerging Offensive Line. However, if you don’t have any weapons, you are going to have trouble moving the chains.
This was a very good move by Denver. Even if he doesn’t pan out, it was a low risk trade for Denver and a chance to save their 1st Round pick.

Oddly enough Derek Anderson still won that game!

Amazing, isn't it?
Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

A real steal
While there are no guarantees, Quinn never really had much of a chance in Cleveland. It seems that with the success of Ryan, Flacco and Sanchez, maybe too much is being expected of first year QBs. It used to be assumed that it took time to develop an NFL QB.
Orton will start this year for the Broncos, but Quinn will be learning and if the Broncos play this year like they finished last year, he could get a chance at some point.
trade
since denver is in the mood to trade right now? lets ask if they would want hawk for dawkins. hawk can play with his brother-in-law and they both make about the same money. it would take care of our safety position.plus you can say that hawk was like the 5th alternate on the pro-bowl voting. that might peek their interest.
do you think denver would be that foolish?
Does anyone else think it's funny that....
The Browns are now eyeing Jimmy Claussen just after trading Brady Quinn?

I'm an Irish fan, but scratching my head on that one.
Although, I think Claussen will probably be a better qb in the league. I was never so sure Brady could start in the NFL, maybe the change in scenery will do him good. I’m very curious to see where Claussen ends up going.
