The SB Nation Writers Mock Draft Will Begin On Wednesday
The Rams are on the clock and will have their pick up to the virtual podium on Wednesday. However the Green Bay Packers aren't on the clock until sometime around the 2nd week in April. While the real NFL draft can drag on, we're taking it to a new level at SB Nation.
What do you think for the Rams: QB Sam Bradford or DT Ndamukong Suh?
As far as the Packers, I'm thinking defense right now. Either Boise State CB Kyle Wilson or USC SS Taylor Mays should be available. My ideal pick would be Texas LB Sergio Kindle, though many mock drafts (but not all) expect he'll be gone by No. 23.

Don't tip your hand!
What if you want to trade down!

I like your choices
and if Kindle is available around 18, I think we should try trading up to get him. I think he can be just as good as Clay was as a rookie. But if a seemingly stud OLB/CB/S aren’t available at that pick, I say trade down. OL and backup RB are easy to get in the 3rd round, so we could get a couple extra picks to add depth
Please don't draft Taylor Mays
He has bust written all over him, but really can you trade out of your position i think these mock drafts are kind of stupid for the packers cuz its more likely than not that TT won’t draft at this position and will move up or down.
Brandon Graham
Is the packers pick too early for him? He seems like he would be an ideal outside rusher in a 3-4 defense. The guy is a beast and had an outstanding year on an otherwise terribel Michigan defense.
I don’t think it’s too early for him at all. In fact, I’ve actually seen Graham projected to be picked before 23 in most of the mocks I’ve seen. Some scouts have mentioned he looks a little stiff in coverage though, which scares me a little bit.

GO LEFT OT! PICK UP A VERY GOOD OLB IN 2ND OR 3RD ROUND!
There are a lot of good 3-4 OLB’s in this draft where there isn’t that much of a drop-off between the first and second tiers. Koa Misi, Novarro Bowman, Eric Norwood, Thaddeus Gibson-all very good OLB’s should be available in either the 2nd or 3rd rounds.
There aren’t as many blue chip Left OT’s & they aren’t going to last as long. If we get the chance to pick up either Trent Williams, Bruce Campbell or Charles Brown with the 23rd slot, we should do so.
Totally agree. Any of those LBs you listed would be good for us, and I would guess that a few of them will be available.
LT is too big of a need to ignore if any of the top guys are still on the board.

I will say it
I will be totally shocked if it is Kyle Wilson. 5’10 " - it is not Teddy’s way for CB’s. Jump balls in the red zone— NO WAY. The whole Ahmad Carrol thing is still fresh in my mind. I hope the pick is relatively safe like a OT left or OLB. I will say I would not be disappointed with a safety because I think Capers will do well with another talented safety (creative blitz packages), use like a OLB sometimes etc… so IF tackles are gone, OLB’s are gone then yeah….USC SS Taylor Mays. I think he might bring special teams value with him as well which would bring a 2 for 1 deal (special teams, defense value) But who knows right?? No mocks for me this year as they drive me nuts.
Hughes
Thats what I’m talkin about Brother!!! Give us Hughes, the best 34 OLB and best pass rusher in the draft!!! Pair him w/ Clay Matthews and we have a terror of a pass rush for the next 10 years!

@Stroh
Obviously you know more about this guy than me, I have done a little research. If we got him, how do you think he would fair in pass coverage? Kampman’s short coming…. otherwise wouldn’t we be getting a smaller Kampman? Not being a smart a$$, just wondering what his pass coverage could be, particularly if he has to follow a tight end for awhile?
Hughes
There is EVERY reason to believe that Hughes would do just fine in coverage! Coverage comes down to speed, quickness and football instincts… Most people think that Kindle is already soo much better than Hughes in coverage, by virtue of having played LB as a Jr. But Hughes has better speed (4.69 to 4.72 in the 40) and better quickness (Hughes was in the couple top performers in the 3 cone drill and 20 shuttle) than Kindle (not even in top 10!!!). Hughes wasn’t used much in coverage at TCU, due to his pass rushing ability, but he has everything a 34 OLB needs to be very good in coverage!!! I have NO doubts about his ability in that regard!!! NONE!!!
