The Packers 2010 Preseason Opponents
Yes, it's only the Green Bay Packers 2010 preseason schedule, but it's still 4 games I plan on watching. And it'll be the only time to get an extended look at many of the backups, or players who just missed the final roster cut. For the 2nd preseason in a row, I'll be trying to discover some reason why LB Desmond Bishop is playing behind LB A.J. Hawk. From Packers.com:

if you figure out why bishop is playing behind hawk————let me know as well.
probably because he was a 5th overall pick . just my opinion
My guess is that its because it was the first year in the system and they wanted to see how he’d do in the new system. Being the high pick I am sure played into it. They have more invested in him so they give him more slack. Its not like he’s been terrible and its not like Bishop blew him away. I don’t think they are being negligent, though Bishop might be the better choice. Hard to say, I am not there watching practices and stuff.
Yeah, it’s hard to say. I don’t think Hawk is our future at ILB but is that because I expect way more then what he is able to give or is it because he is actually bad? I don’t really know the answer. I know I definitely expect a lot out of him just cause he is a 5th pick. At the same time I know his play isn’t always at the level you would hope for. He occassionally takes bad angles and can be weak in coverage and seems like he is thinking too much instead of just reacting.
But then every once in a while he plays really well, stuffing the run and doing ok in coverage.
It seems like he isn’t as consistent as he needs to be but at the same time I think the reason many of us hate on him so much is just because we think he should be a Patrick Willis type talent seeing as how he was the 5th pick in the draft. Would Bishop be any better? I’m not sure. I know last year I read a couple articles hinting that he was having trouble learning the playbook, so no, I don’t think he would have. Now, after this offseason if he has a better grasp of the playbook, then I think he should get a chance.
I still kind of think we’ll see Chillar eventually take over Hawk’s starting spot but still use Hawk and Bishop in a rotation. The coaches were all ranting and raving about Chillar before his injury last year, and the fact that TT gave him a relatively generous contract seems to point to us using him a lot more.

agree
i also believe chillar and barnett will be on the inside next year.
I’m still kind of hoping that Bishop shows a lot of improve this offseason. It seems like he has the physical tools to be a good player. The mental aspect just needs to catch up a bit. Hopefully an offseason can help him catch up.
